  1. Insulation came out the port of my "lightly used" PSB B25 bookshelf speakers today... is this cause for alarm?
  2. That's what I'm struggling with... no... I currently don't need the power... but this seems like a future proof bi-amp situation at a reduced cost? Either way... I can have two amps for the price of the 356 BEE ($700 cnd) The only useful features of the 356BEE is A/B speakers & increased wattage.
  3. 1. Purchased NAD 326BEE for killer price. Cannot refund, only exchange/store credit (lots of great options at this store) 2. I have found a 356 BEE for the same price I got the 326BEE for... so basically, I can buy the two amps for the original price of the 356BEE ($700) Is it worth sucking it up... or should I buy the 356BEE and return the 326BEE for store credit... or keep both for interesting amplifier configurations? Thanks.
  4. Thanks. I have a real soft spot for the NAD... but seriously... no phono input, no digital inputs, no A/B speaker configurations... not to mention the on-board DAC for crappy CD/DVD players... I'm finding it difficult to go with the NAD even though I want to.
  5. I currently have Bose 201's but they will be replaced with PSB b-25 most likely... I'm still trying to figure that out. Everything I have read & heard, seems to say the HK-3490 is nothing to put down as far a sound quality goes.
  6. Two choices... Harman Kardon HK-3490 2 Channel receiver, or NAD 326BEE integrated amp. Both same price. Both units will primarily be used to play FLAC files from my computer via Audiostream Firefly 1.2. I really like the quality of the NAD and it's no BS approach, but the features of the HK are hard to ignore. HELP ME DECIDE!
  7. Thanks... I'll look into that. Is there a economical way to use my HDMI output and convert it into digital optical input into the HK3490 to make use of the onboard DAC?
  8. Thanks so much for the help. I'm running a Windows 8 machine, It is of decent spec, Intel i7, Nevidia 635 graphics with Nevidia HD Sound when I use the HDMI, otherwise, it's realtec audio. Sadly, the HK3490 doesn't have a HDMI Input, I can't seem to find a similarly priced 2 Channel amp that has a internal DAC and HDMI input. Thanks again for the help.
  9. I'm having a hard time understanding what the benefit of the on-board DAC in the amp would have for me, if I still have to buy a pricey converter to make use of it. I'm trying to avoid buying a separate DAC converter, hence my interest in the HK3490... what am I missing here? Thanks.
  10. Thanks. So I can't just use the headphone jack, then a simple adapter to run a cable to the digital coax input on the HK3490 to make use of the onboard DAC? Thanks.
  11. I'm new here, so go easy please! I'm wondering if I can make use use of the internal DAC in the Harman Kardon HK3490 amplifier using my PC? It's my understanding the HK3490 has a pair of AKM PCM DAC's that you can connect a source via two digital inputs (1 coax, 1 toslink). My PC does not have a digital output... how can I make this work? Is the quality of the on-board DAC in the HK3490 worth the effort? What will I need? and what will the cost be? I want to play FLAC files in full quality. I haven't purchased this Amplifier yet, but have looked a plenty, for the price of this unit, it seems like a great value to me... if of course, I can make use of the on-board DAC Thanks for any help!
