  1. The Synology comes with their own player that can decode any formats including FLAC, WAV, ALAC etc. No need another player. Synology also has phone apps that you can download to control your playlist.
  2. So perhaps there is no need for special drivers then. I currently have HRT HD setup on my NAS going into a hafler pre-amp and power amp then into my Magneplanars 3A (ancient speakers but fabulous ones). It sounds great as is. Any idea if bifrost will sound better than hrt hd?
  3. I think to support the hi res, special drivers need to be downloaded from Schiit. At least we know it supports upto 24/88. Thanks a zillion!!
  4. Wow you are the MAN!! Yes please try FLAC, apple lossless if possible. Also please try adding songs to playlist, etc to see if all features work well
  5. Not sure. I installed DS Audio from Synology on my Android to control the playlist. If you have iphone, you can also download this from itunes. Also you need to select the music to be output to the usb speaker on DS Audio
  6. Thanks Radioking! That's the problem. You can't install anything on the nas as there is no such capability. You can only use whatever software update that synology releases.
  7. Eloise Thanks. If usb 2.0 is standard then synology or schiit would have replied and said yes ;-)
  8. Schiit is not on the list but I was hoping someone has tried it.
  9. HI I have a Synology DS211J NAS and am thinking of buying a Schiit Bifrost DAC to play music out via USB to my amps. Both Synology and Schiit do not know if they equipment can interoperate as the USB driver from Synology may not work with Bifrost. Anyone out there who has tried it? My NAS software version is DSM4.3. THanks
