  1. The appreciation of cables upgrade is in my experience system dependent. I have 2 set-ups at home: one with Aries+Devialet 250, one with Aurender N10+COS D1. I have tried 4 different USB cables from £30 to 900 and have found significant differences. The sablon is my persona favorite particularly with the higher end system (Aurender / cos): superior soundstage, more transparent, just more synergistic with the rest of my system!
  2. Hi. I purchased a Lumin M1 a couple of weeks ago. Until 3 days ago the system was working perfectly streaming Qobuz (controller by Lumin app in iPhone 6). Over the last fee days nothing seems to work anymore whilst streaming Qobuz: playlist upload only partially, tracks pause in the middle, delay in executing app instructions ... Any thoughts on how to fix this? Thanks.
  3. Hello. Spent 2 hours listening to the LA double bass @ Munich with cds Scarlatti cd source and avantgarde pre/amp. I simply loved them to the point I ordered one pair on the spot when back home. They offer the same highs as a magnepan (the magic of 4 ribbon tweeters) and exceptional integration with the mid/bass. Soundstage is wide and tall (muuuuch taller than a wilson Sophia for example), sound is lushious yet detailed, no sign of fatigue even after long listening sessions. The bass is probably not the very best I've heard but the overall package is a killer and hence the purchase! Ps j chevassus @ 6 moons did 2 very thorough reviews of LA speakers.
  4. Happy to admit that I don't know what a Linux kernel is... Can you pls explain what it is for / why is it better than before? Thanks!
  5. Upgraded today to 2.1 - SQ improvement is nothing short than stunning... Much better highs, bigger soundstage, meaty bass, the whole is more coherent and musical. Does anyone know what exactly the folks at Auralic have changed and why it sounds so damn good?!?
  6. It seems that many of us are suffering from this connection issue. Mr Wang / Auralic: could you please let us know of there is a solution today or if you are going to fix it in a future upgrade? Thanks!
  7. Thanks Darock. Much better than switching the Aries off, I will try. Annoying though, has anyone found another more permanent solution? Would appreciate if Auralic could fix this at next software release...
  8. When I don't use the Aries for 2-3 days the lighting ds app does not 'see' the Aries anymore and I can't use it. I tried to turn both the app and the Aries off/on (with the remote) to no use. Only when I turn off/on the transformer the connection with the Lighting Ds works. This does happen only when I don't use it for more than 2 days, otherwise all good. Does anyone else have this problem, any solutions? Setup is apple router, Aries in wireless mode, usb cable into devialet 250.
  9. I have a devialet 250 as dac/amp. SQ is best thru USB and I had a top quality AES cable on trial. Obviously the difference is minor: bit more details, slightly better transients and deeper soundstage (I am using a dac1 usb cable, very happy about it). As a curiosity I also tried spdif which came out 2nd. Also remember you can only stream DSD thru USB.
  10. Any impact on SQ? Is it fully comparable to the original CD format? Thanks
  11. Hi and thanks for starting this thread. Like Bob I have both Tidal and Qobuz. I have done a couple of a/b test (same album/track) and they seem very much the same to me in term s of SQ. However I noticed a difference: - Qobuz streams at 16 bit, 44 kHz and between 500-1050 kb/s (as read by the Auralic Aries). The streaming speed changes wildly during the track - Tidal streams at 16bit, 44 kHz and at constant speed of around 700-800 kb/s (it changes among tracks but completely stable within a track) - none of the 2 streams at 1492 kb/s (unsure about the last 2 digits) which is the proper cd format. Can anyone explain why? Does it have an impact on SQ? Anything that can be done to improve this? I am using Auralic Aries in wireless mode as source, apple extreme AC router, devialet 250 (connected to the Aries via usb). PS/ I tried the Aries in wired mode (Ethernet) and the streaming speed of both Qobuz and tidal is unchanged.
  12. Jimmyp... Why is it so hard to have a respectful and fact based conversation here? Unsure why you keep using words such as 'nonsense/garbage/ridiculous + the competitor theory... It's proven that Auralic has communicated false specs on the Aries AC capability for way too long. That's a problem because people will then trust them less going forward. Some of us were even less happy for the reasons we discussed and won't repeat. When customer provide feedback it's a blessing for the company and I appreciated mr Wang apology; hopefully the company (and all of us) can move on. It would be nice if you could let everyone express their thoughts though... and avoid policing this thread :-) Gracias!
  13. Very interesting thread... I have 4 absorbers below the Aries (and 4 under its power supply) and now tried adding a record weight (350g) on top of the Aries. I have been listening for an hour now doing a/b comparison (albeit not blind), and in my system the impact on SQ is significant... Bass are firmer, soundstage is deeper, things just got into a better place. Keen to hear if others have similar experiences. If of interest here is the link to the weight (I use their absorbers as well, great quality brand at the right price) http://www.bfly-audio.de/en/produkte/produkte-plattenspieler-zubehoer.html
  14. Guys - I am satisfied with Xuanqian apology and wish Aries the best success going forward. I do see vivavox point though, if the website of major retailers contains incorrect info it should be fixed and the company can help. Let's keep enjoying CA altogether and yes get the conversation among all of us going... Cheers!
  15. Xuanqian - thanks for answering. The PDF containing the 802.11.ac spec was however in your website till yesterday as the official Aries spec... apologies accepted but please pay more attention in the future as many of us got mislead by that information (including many magazines that keep talking about Aries being AC compatible). Few questions: - will the Aries ever be AC compatible? - when I stream both Qobuz and Tidal in cd quality the Aries reports that the streaming is between 600-800kb/s (it changes by track). Why not 1024? Anything I can do to optimize, if anything (using Apple extreme 3m away from Aries in wireless mode, Aries connected to devialet 250 via usb)
