  1. Gotcha, makes sense I will give the posts a read. Question is there any benefit to the usb to toslink rather than just going USB to DAC thinking that is that just in cases where the DAC only has toslink input otherwise just go straight USB? What is a good model for a usb/toslink converter? Thanks everyone for your answers here!
  2. Also do you guys use a soundcard or onboard sound via motherboard? Or do you bypass it with USB to DAC? Also can I bypass soundcard (or not include one in PC ) if I use toslink?
  3. Do you have a direct link to the CAPS guidelines?

  5. Hi there, Looking to get some feedback from members relating to the specs needed when building a PC that will be used specifically to play hi-res (up to 24/192) tracks and standard FLAC. From what I know most modern PC's will play hi-res and if I want to bypass the soundcard I use a USB connection to DAC. If I have a decent soundcard I have the option to use the toslink connection as well, is this correct? What I am hoping to learn from you is what the minimum processor, RAM, motherboard, soundcard etc. is needed when building a PC that will be used for this activity. Appreciate your input! Thank you.
  6. OK, so I have tried everything and still getting the same issue when using the USB. I tried Optical and it plays clear as a bell. Any idea why this is happening? Thinking this is a hardware issue on the amp side?
  7. Not to sound defeatist but I do have the option of using an optical cable, what are your thoughts on that? My source material is 85% CD quality flac and maybe 5% 24/96 and then 10% 24/192 but I have read that the HD signal is throttled by the optical cable is there any truth to this?
  8. Wow that is exactly what I was looking for. Think I know what I am doing tonight. Thanks very much! Will report back
  9. I have closed all non-essential programs and still same issue but will play with them a little more. Thanks!
  10. I do have multiple external HDD's installed I will try removing them in addition to testing on my laptop. I do have full desktop so the USB card looks interesting! Thanks for your advice, will report back
  11. Hello everyone, First post here but have been reading for a bit now. Just purchased the Rotel RA-1570 amp and am happy with the sound. Thing is I am getting lots of drop outs when playing from computer and was hoping someone here could help me troubleshoot. I am running an I7 with 8 gigs of ram running windows 7. I am using a USB 2.0 port. I have restored factory settings on the amp and reinstalled the software twice. Any ideas?
