  1. Thanks, Alex. The cleanliness and craftsmanship of the OCK-2 are attractive, but I agree 100% that measured performance is where it's at when it comes to a clock. I'm hoping someone with a proper test bench can give a few of them a shakedown so we can actually see where it's at. I had great respect for -- and perhaps have been spoiled by -- clock manufacturers that actually bench-test and publish the specs for each unit. Not seeing that immediately makes me suspicious that they are either not capable or unwilling to "show their work." Both possibilities leave a bad taste in my mouth, regardless of how pretty the package is and how many "good design fundamentals" it checks. The irony is I'm much more subjectivist than objectivist when it comes to audio (my ears, my heart, and my soul are the ultimate arbiter of what sounds good in my listening chair, and thus where my money is spent), but I just can't get past my objectivist tendencies when it comes to clocks. If I'm paying >$500 for a gizmo that says it's better than the clock inside my >$1000 audio toy, it better have the paperwork to prove it!
  2. Nice stack! Do you flip back and forth between the two DACs on a regular basis, or is this more a case of "trying this one vs that one to see which one stays"?
  3. What all are you connecting to so many clock cables? When I bought my Mutec, I had 2 devices that could make use of it: my Gustard X26pro DAC and my etherREGEN. I've since parted ways with the etherREGEN and the switch I'm currently using doesn't take a clock input, so I'm down to a single output. I've been working with someone to experiment with an HDMI / I2S board that could potentially take an external 10MHz clock input, so there was a time I was thinking I would have 3 "clockable" components in my system, but even that was a stretch. 😅 Now I'm down to one and considering downsizing the clock as I just don't see a bunch of clock-input-capable devices in my future. The part of me that likes to "prepare for any contingency" doesn't want to sell the SE120 of course, but the part of me that read your 1000% of the price for 3% of the improvement comment keeps thinking of all the other great audio kit that difference may afford me...
  4. Yield is a favorite PJ album of mine as well. I'll have to check out the Atmos mix!
  5. I don't suppose anyone has measurements handy for the LHY OCK-2 (and any information on how much phase variance there is from sample to sample of it?). I rummaged the interwebs but couldn't find a data sheet anywhere. (I do see the makers of the clock module have a DIY version out there for people who want to play with upgrading their devices that don't have an external clock input, though).
  6. Looks like there's a UF version of the LMR-400 as well. Would it be the best of both worlds, perhaps, or just stiffer for no real advantage over the LMR-200-UF?
  7. I rather like the look of the OCK-2, the diminutive size, and also the flexibility. (minor surgery to switch 50/75Ohm on any output, but also you get 3 sine wave outputs and 3 square wave outputs). That said, the most satisfying gains in hi-fi are usually found in that final 3% between this component or that component... tough call.
  8. View Classified Farad Super3 12V 115V power supply w/ 50cm 2.5mm Farad DC power cable This supply was originally purchased from Farad in December 2020 for $620 with the standard 50cm DC power cable / 2.5mm connector. It is configured for US (115V) but does not come with an AC power cable from manufacturer, so plan on providing your own. I purchased it from a member here shortly thereafter (in February of 2021) and it has been a reliable part of my system's power foundation since then. I recently changed my system and this supply is no longer required. Ships in the original Farad double-box packaging and manual (as pictured). My asking price includes CONUS shipping with a carrier of my choosing (probably FedEx). PayPal F&F or add 4%. Details from the manual: Seller Jeremy Anderson Date 02/17/23 Price 495.00 USD Category Power Supplies / Power Products

  11. I also use BackBlaze. Super cheap for storing lots of data. Restoring it en masse is a bit of a pain, but if you're not in a hurry, they'll put your data on a hard drive and mail it to you (and even refund you the cost of the drive if you return it to them). Thanks for the tip about TrueNAS. I'll check it out! I've been using a Synology DS1513+ for a while now and I'm generally quite happy with it. One of my favorite additions to Windows in recent years (since around Windows 8, iirc) is Storage Spaces, which is a way to set up a storage pool using whatever drives you have laying around (ideally equal size and consistent technology, but they don't have to be!) and then to carve up logical volumes (potentially with differing RAID-esque storage strategies like mirroring, parity or striping, etc.) from that pool. The rub is that you can lie to it and set a size for the Space and it will just pretend you actually have that much space until you run out of room on the storage array behind the scenes. It usually 'fails' into 'read-only' mode at that point, similar to what happens if you remove a drive from a mirrored/parity set. My favorite part about it is the entire pool and space configuration is distributed across every member of the set, so you can take a Space (in whole or in part) and move it to another computer running the same (or later) version of Windows and it "just works" so long as a quorum of the drives that comprise your space(s) are available. 12. That's intense! Almost feels like "yeah, I used Romex as my ATX power coupling... just because." :D I bet it sounds amazing, though.
  13. Apologies if you already shared this and I just didn't read back far enough, but where on earth did you find Panzerholz in the States? (I feel as though I've spent enough hours searching the web that my eyes were starting to bleed...) Nice to see you were able to cram the Nenon supply into the Taiko DIY. I held off on purchasing the Taiko case because Nenon had serious doubts that his supply would fit. I can see it is a very tight squeeze, so his concerns were well-founded. 😅
  14. All this is making me wonder if there might be room for a 'startup delay' switch / dip / dial on the back of the ER2... just to ensure that on resumption of a power outage, outboard clocks have ample time to kick on before the ER goes looking? (Event-driven ("wait for external clock signal to appear before completing the boot up") might be even swankier, but not at the cost of additional noise.)
