  1. Hmmm. I've been so busy concentrating on the Android version of the app I haven't really put any more thought into an iOS version. And even though I've received a lot of positive feedback about the app, I think I may have overestimated the demand for gapless playback via Chromecast devices. So I doubt if I'll ever be able to justify the effort required to create an iOS version. I'm not ruling it out completely but if it does happen it won't be anytime soon.
  2. That's OK. Good to hear that gapless is working for you. ... and the latest version of the app (just released) can now also do gapless playback of MP3s via Chromecast.
  3. The Hi-Fi Cast app can now do gapless playback of 24bit WAV and FLAC files (up to 96kHz) via Chromecast Audio and the 2nd Generation Chromecast (video). Gapless with the original Chromecast (video) is still limited to 16bit WAV and FLAC.
  4. I hadn't considered it actually. I think I'd be more inclined to do an iOS version of the app.
  5. Yes. That's right. The app will not try and play 24bit files gaplessly. But gapless up to 24/96 should be available soon...hopefully in the next release.
  6. Thanks for buying the app. Much appreciated. The CCA natively accepts MP3, AAC, FLAC and WAV. Multichannel FLAC and WAV files do not play and 192kHz files are resampled by the CCA to 96kHz. So provided that the file being played is stereo MP3, AAC, FLAC or WAV then transcoding is not required.
  7. AFAIK there is no way to create a gapless receiver that will play WAV/FLAC files. Even though Mr Google has said that gapless can be done using MSE (Media Source Extensions), the implementation on the Chromecast simply doesn't work with WAV/FLAC (well, I couldn't get it to work!). And while it is possible to use MSE to stitch together a gapless stream on the receiver for MP3 and AAC files, the Chromecast enforces CORS which means that your DLNA server would need to provide appropriate headers (I don't know if any do) to have any chance of working. As far as sound quality is concerned, I don't think it would make any difference. The 'bits' sent to the DAC will be exactly the same.
  8. I'm sorry to hear its not working for you. There's a few things that can prevent gapless transitions between tracks when casting using the Hi-Fi Cast app: If the files are hi-rez. Gapless is only currently supported for 16bit/44.1kHz WAV and FLAC files Seeking to near the end of the track Moving/deleting tracks in the playback queue (when the currently playing track is nearly finished) Anyway. Thanks for trying it.
  9. You can search for DSD128 albums here: Find HD music | Search Results [Resolution is '1/5644.8']
  10. Same here. I just created an account with the help of the information posted on this thread. And I've created a simple tutorial that hopefully will also help others: e-onkyo Tutorial | How To Purchase And Download Music From e-onkyo music Disclosure: I do NOT have any affiliation with e-onkyo music
  11. It's been a while since their 50% daily deal has been hi-res. The latest deal is Sudbin plays Scriabin (24/44.1) for $US5.80 Seems like a bargain to me. There's about 12 hours left on this deal. eClassical - Sudbin plays Scriabin Disclosure: I do NOT have any association with eClassical.
  12. In addition to the sites already mentioned, you can find DSD Multichannel downloads at hd-klassik.com, 2L and HighDefTapeTransfers. Multichannel downloads in PCM formats can be found at these sites: 2L BSO Dacapo hd-klassik.com (and its sister site, Cybele) Gimell Gubemusic HighDefTapeTransfers HighResAudio iTrax Qobuz The Classical Shop
  13. I've just noticed that Qobuz has recently added thousands of albums to their 'Studio Masters' category under the label 'BNF Collection' (BNF Collection - Télécharger et écouter les albums). I've been searching for more information about the BNF Collection and this is the best I've found so far: Mediamus: Les collections sonores de la BNF arrivent sur les plateformes de streaming et de téléchargement Has anyone out there tried any of these BNF albums? If so, what do you think of the sound quality? The reason I ask is that there seems to be a large price difference between some BNF albums and the corresponding albums found on HDTracks and AcousticSounds (eg compare the price of 'Time Out' by The Dave Brubeck Quartet) - so I'm assuming the BNF versions must be inferior in some way. Any other comments or information about the BNF collection are welcome.
  14. Hi christopher3393, I was just answering the main question posed in this thread (ie. where to get the album as an HD download)! I think that knowing all the options is a good thing. And thanks to your astute analysis we have confirmation that eClassical is better value than The Classical Shop for this particular album. No.
  15. It's also available at The Classical Shop: http://www.theclassicalshop.net/Details.aspx?CatalogueNumber=BI%201805S
