  1. thanks all, I have ordered one of these as the price was so good. They won't deliver to me here in the UK but I am getting a friend to order it and then ship it to me. The price is nearly a third of the price over here! I have also ordered a Meridian digital lead with BNC on one end and RCA one the other. Finally, I have ordered a Chord USB lead Hopefully, when all these bits arrive, I will be able to start enjoying computer audio : ) Thanks again.
  2. Thanks for the help. Cable-wise, I don't have a lot of options but I take on board the need for quality cables. Here are some more details on my system. The Meridian G91 is a legacy entry level all in one processor in the Meridian range. It is then connected into the Meridian Digital speakers which have integrated DACs in them (another thing that can't be changed). The cables that connect the processor to the speakers are Meridian's own cables (I can't really change these as they also send comms signals between the components). I will use a normal Meridian digital cable (minus the comms) for the SPDIF connection. Does the quality of the USB lead make a lot of difference? The V-Link 192 and mLink are in my price range so I will have a further look at these. I am based in the UK, but I have friends in the US so I could get the USB convertor posted over here. Thanks again, Peter
  3. Hi David, Thanks for the quick response. I'll have a look through it. Peter
  4. Hi All, I am new to computer based audio. My hifi system is a Meridian digital system with active speakers. These have 96/24 DACs built into them. I have purchased a Mac Mini to use as a music server. I intend to connect this into my Meridian G91 using one of the digital inputs. To this end, I understand it would be better to use an asynchronous USB to SPDIF convertor rather than the toslink connector. I would like to connect into the SPDIF rather than toslink as I am running out of toslink connectors... My questions are these: Is connecting by USB to SPDIF the best method for getting superior sound quality? Are there any recommendations for any particular USB converter, or what spec should I be looking for in one? Thanks in advance, Peter
