  1. Hello everyone, I was curious to know if there are any web sites which catalogue the musical provenance of recordings? I think such an index would be extremely useful. Partly to reassure us that, when a project is reissued, that care has been taken to find the original master and transfer the material to a future high resolution medium. But also to reassure us that some of these important recordings are being looked after and preserved for others to enjoy for generations to come. If there isn't already, I'd certainly be interested in forming some kind of Musical Provenance Index. Regards, Andrew.
  2. Thank you for your response Melvin. I am getting a sense there's no 'one size fits all' package. I have tried Pure Music but not J Media center, the interface of the former as quite off-putting and the presentation didn't bowl me over like the others did. Ideally I'd like to keep iTunes for media management so Amarra, Audirvana and BitPerfect seemed to fill the bill, with Fidelia using a compromise of being able to access the library slightly differently. It's been good fun so far. I do find myself flip-flopping between Audirvava and Fidelia. Not too worried about DSD yet, not until it becomes a little more main stream and we have access to some more material. I feel we won't have to wait long though. Regards, Andrew.
  3. Hello everyone, I wanted to say how wonderful it is to see such in-depth resource of knowledge. I've just started my journey into computer audio after being very much in the analogue domain for many years. Anyway, my reason for visiting. Like many I've been doing research into software playback and listening to various packages, trying most of the time to not become influenced by option, which has been tough when using Google to discover what's available. So I've found myself settling on these two packages... Audirvana Plus 1.5.10 Fidelia 1.3.1 For me, at this time, Fidelia just has the edge. Musically is just does it for me. I was curious to see what other peoples experience had been with this software, and was a little surprised there doesn't seem to be much too mention of it on this site. It really does have a lovely sound. All is well controlled, with a great clarity, tone and warmth. Everything sits in the soundstage quite nicely too. Not a fan of the whole 'skeuomorphic' design approach to them both, but it's about the sound at the end of the day. Importantly, they're reasonably priced, which is a bonus. So, I'd be interested to hear if there's anything I've missed that's also worth considering. I've been down the Amarra and BitPerfect route. Regards, Andrew. P.S. I'm running a Macintosh.
