Can u help with some additional instructions. How do u add the airfoil as a server in jriver?

I am running out of my trial window for using JRiver and Airfoil. I was really hoping to hear if JRiver was going to sound better than the iTunes to AE streaming.

I didn't realize how difficult it was going to be to stream JRiver to an airport express. I was unable to get the airfoil to play. I am currently listening to internet radio streaming to airport express (which is connected to my 2 channel pre amp's DAC via a DH Labs fiber optic cable. I thought I could have a budget streaming set-up using airfoil to stream to the airport express. I wanted to avoid spending $$ on a CD player at this point and save that for a "player" that I could connect directly to my preamp/DAC at some point in the future.

Still not able to hear music. Airfoil shows up on jriver. Music works on old PC with iTunes and airport just doesn't sound great. Either juicer or firewall issue. I need suggestions

Eloise, thank you for the airfoil suggestion. It is recognized by Jriver, but I am not able to hear any music on the stereo. I know the airport express works, so isn't must be an issue with the computer and wireless network or firewalls. This is so fustrating, because iTunes is just plug and play. I was hoping to hear the improvement in sound from Jriver.

New to set ups. Express works great on win xp PC running iTunes. Tried Jriver & asset to stream to express. I have comcast and home linksys router. Need help getting UPnp set up to see express.

Downloaded asset UPnp can't see AE. Works great streaming from iTunes on other computer. Not sure about set up

I am new to this site and need help with some clarifications. If I stream Jriver on Win7 PC to AE that is connected to DAC on pre amp via toslink. Will I benefit by using cat5 from router to AE? Should I rip using FLAC or AIFF if I need synch with iPhone too. Do I need dBpoweramp to rip or can I do it in Jriver pros and cons? My long term goal is to be able to listen to Hi Res files on hdwr that will not become obsolete in a year or two. I don't plan to invest in a CD player
