  1. Glad I could contribute and be of assistance.
  2. CA at work! Madness! I use the Apple bluetooth keyboard with my iPad (control + touch/tap),I'll see if I can figure it out or someone else from the internet will chime in.
  3. Buy a compatible Android Tablet if you need a remote right now. Like right meow. The iOS version is coming. I use Screens VNC, https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/screens-vnc-access-your-computer/id655890150?mt=8 http://edovia.com/screens/#ios
  4. miguelito Let us know how it turns out. I made a copy of my iTunes library and let Roon have at it, with Watched and Organized folders. I've been using Roon for the last two months this way. There is point of discussion over at the Roon forums about this.
  5. +1 I have it my feed reader, I enjoy the Bitperfect Blog. There was some back and forth between Richard and Mark Waldrep / John Siau over DSD and PCM. Start: BitPerfect: On DSD vs PCM … again Part I: Not So Bit Perfect About DSD vs. PCM? | Real HD-Audio Part II: Not So Bit Perfect About DSD vs. PCM? Part II | Real HD-Audio Part III: Not So Bit Perfect About DSD vs. PCM? Part III | Real HD-Audio Part IV: Not So Bit Perfect About DSD vs. PCM? Part IV | Real HD-Audio Part V: Not So Bit Perfect About DSD vs. PCM? Finale | Real HD-Audio Then to compliment this back and forth AND this discussion of DSD to PCM. Archimago's blog is good. Archimago's Musings: ANALYSIS: DSD Conversion Impulse & Spectral Display... Another few images for completeness! I really don't know what to do at this point because of the referenced links above. I'd just like to know what is the best/recommended way to do DSD to PCM and is it transparent. I look forward to CA's coverage on this topic.
  6. Your comments could explain why this lossy recording so good. Computer Audiophile - An Enjoyable And Free MP3 (Trust me On This One)
  7. I disagree that the article is crappy; it's strong counterpoint. You do not have to like the points. Instead could you elaborate on the characteristics that you believe for good music reproduction. Specifically, which is more important to audio fidelity? Thanks
  8. Thanks- I enjoy Sound garden, Pear Jam and 90's era grunge and alternative.
  9. Monty is a good guy. He and his team are behind the Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC). https://xiph.org/flac/ What he says at the end is what I like people to focus on every time this article comes up. Which is: Better Headphones Lossless Audio Better Masters Surround We can have it all, 24 bit master versions, better equipment/lossless audio, and multichannel audio.
  10. As far as I can tell from the Roon forum there is no up sampling. Roon plays music in it's native rate; I guess Roon's developers do not believe there is any effect to up sampling. It does switch the sample rate based on input format sample rate. DSD is handled up to 256DSD. I really like Roon -Enjoy!
  11. Had something like what you described. I changed my Library Name and re paired the AppleTV and Remote App. +1 JMRC is good, no mobile play statistics, w/ out using the JRemote App, and no iPhone sync (or at least reliable form of it). (To import ratings you have to make playlists by star.) +1 Roon is good, no iTunes data/play/rating import, no mobile device sync support and no capability for smart playlists (generally the play listing in Roon is awful).
  12. +1, this and the Universal Media Server work. Universal Media Server plus you can burn DSD Discs to play in the PS3. PS3™ | Music category Use Korg Audiogate. AudioGate3 HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO PLAYER SOFTWARE | Audio | KORG
  13. Yes, Sony states in a published manual 20,000 (twenty thousand) is the limit. Otherwise corruption will occur. This limit has not changed. boomklever I am glad you like the HAP-Z1ES, can you provide a cellphone pic of your library count?
  14. Use exact audio copy (PC) or Roxio Toast (MAC) and create binary (.bin) files with a cue sheet. Called .bin/cue; This would be a 1:1 archival copy. For playback in a Bluray player (400 disc?) I recommend making menus with Art /lyrics and tracks. Use Roxio (MAC /PC) for that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Chris and Danny - excellent job running down all these questions! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
