  1. Not sure if I should pose this question in a separate thread or here but I thought I would start here anyways. All this talk about audiophile switches caused me to rethink my setup. All of my music files are stored on a QNAP NAS, but I also use the NAS for other files so I need it connected to the main network. I decided to move my NAS from my office location to my audiophile system location. The NAS has two ethernet ports, the first one I run to a Netgear switch for internet and to connect to the network. The second ethernet port I run directly to an ethernet to USB-C adapter that is plugged into my separate USB card on my audiophile fanless PC. So the audiophile PC has a direct lan connection to the NAS for the music files and through the usb card is not on the same network as my other networked devices (I run my main network on 192.168.1.XXX and the dedicated lan connection is NAS 192.168.0.1 to PC 192.168.0.2), although the main ethernet nic on the motherboard is connected to the Netgear switch so that the audiophile PC can connect to the main network and the internet (mainly to enable the JRiver app on my iPhone). Have I successfully avoided the whole audiophile switch issue by doing the direct lan connection this way? It sounds the best this way but I don't have any switches other than the stock Netgear switch to test it with. Thanks in advance.
  2. I just successfully installed 1.30 and although I can only run a couple of tests at low level (kids are in bed) it sounds great. One question though. When running AO it does not ask me "Is this your ContolPC, AudioPC or your SinglePC?". The manual indicates it should still ask that question right before choosing Express, Advanced or Ultimate Mode but mine does not. When I choose the sound signature it indicates that this is being set for a SinglePC so that's fine as that is what I am using, but what if I wanted to change that? Thanks.
  3. You can extract to individual dsf files (i.e., one song for each dsf). Just choose Phillips DSDDIFF as the output (in the Sonore gui).
  4. Phil are you saying that in core mode by making JRiver the shell the sound is not as good as if you ran the normal shell and started JRiver? Or is "true core mode" not running JRiver at all? I'm confused as why it would be better to run JRiver from cmd as opposed to making it the shell. Thanks.
  5. I just experimented by converting one of the troublesome ISOs using the convert DST option and it worked. Thank you so much, I would not have got that one on my own.
  6. I am trying to use Korg Audiogate to convert dff to dsf using dff files I extracted using the Jesus gui. Each iso is converted to dff into its own folder. Audiogate will load some of the dff file folders but not others. In fact most of the folders will not load only the occasional one. This is true whether I try to add the files as a folder or individually. I cannot understand why it is doing this and of course there is no user support for the free version. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance for any help.
  7. I have not played with Phil's settings yet, and I am using a single PC. If you only have a single PC system and wanted to try Phil's settings, should it be 1D (like he has on his control pc) or 4D like on his audio pc? Thanks.
  8. Now running in core mode and love the sound (running 1D). I am running a single pc setup. Is there any benefit to JPlay on a single PC over and above AO? Thanks.
  9. I use a 1950s Voightlander medium format camera that I inherited, love it.
  10. First post here, glad to be aboard I'm looking to build my audiophile PC and was looking at the MSI Z87i board which (as well as a couple other MSI boards) features "USB Audio Power" which MSI describes as: USB Audio Power USB Audio Power is a breakthrough in Home Theater Entertainment audio quality. Using an unique design, the USB ports onboard provide a TRUE 5V signal that doesn’t drop when more devices are connected. This simply means better signal quality over USB, especially for devices that rely on a perfect signal, like USB DAC’s as they rely on a perfect transmission of audio bits from the motherboard to the DAC. This also means that external low-noise power supplies are no longer essential for better audio quality as USB Audio Power is able to deliver an optimum USB signal. Benefits - Enhances USB Audio Quality - Stable 5V Power & Better Signal Transmission over USB This sounds like a good solution for feeding a DAC but I cannot find any futher information about this feature either by reading the motherboard's manual or by googling. Does anyone have experience with the MSI "USB Audio Power" feature? Thanks in advance.
