  1. Go to about this Mac - Click on system overview - Usb and look up where your dac is connected. There you can find the firmware version.
  2. Thats very simple:iTunes in stand alone versio sounds OK. Like the most versions. In combination with A+ just the same as before. That means imho with version 1.5.10 it sound very good. With version 2 a litle less good. I found that the magic that we had with 1.5.** Is gone (less open and a bit harsh). Like you can read in the treat for A+ 2. In combination with Pure Music: just the same as before. I think that under the hood nothing as changed. Only the managment is a lot more up to date, but that may be a matter of taste. Imho it is a new benchmark. Philippe
  3. Jesus guys,I don't understand you anymore. First of all: i work with Yosemite as a betatester and i have it on my Mac mini for a couple of months and it works without a hitch. Second iTunes is the best looking and most complete music-database there is. The same people that are saying that itunes is a PITA are defending A+ witch is areal PITA and a program that needs a lot of work. Look at the first 36 pages on this forum. All the things you ask from Damian are already included in iTunes for years. I understand that we need a more open system to play DSD and flacs, and samplerate switching, There is a app for that: A+ 1.5**. Sorry guys give it a try and don't defent a programm that is iMO beta wile you have something that works and dont looks like a windowsprogam from the Win 95 era. I like Yosemite icw iTunes and A+ 1.5.10 and i hate A+ 2 standalone version. Philippe

I found out that the problems only ocure when it's playing in itunes integrated mode. Pure music don't stops loading the files. A+ can't open because the last time i played music was in integrated mode. I have to look deeper in it. I realy hope there is a cure for it because i like the new iTunes very much. Philippe

Don't download the latest version of Yosemite (10/07/14). I had a very good experiance with the earlier versions. This one breaks A+ and Puremusic. Don't no what causes the crashes yet. I stil try to find it out. Version 4 (9/30/14) works like a charm. Philippe
  6. I'm using Yosemite for a couple months now. With the 2 latest updates i have never had a problem. My music server is already updated and works like a charm. I use A+ and Puremusic without any problems. Another fine thing is iTunes, a example of the highest quality music database icw A+ or Puremusic.
  7. I had the opportunity to hear the Sprout this weekend. A realy good all in one and very affordable. Real value for money, and a dac that plays other (expensive) dacs away. Sprout | PS Audio
  8. The idea sounds good, but if yoy use a dac and pre like i do, it can be to much. I know you talk about a plugin, but dont tweak the overal sound to warm. With my Devialet's that works fine but with my Nagra's its to much. (I have try'd this with PureMusic)

I can see a point in your argument. I was also not happy with there "gift". But i can also understand the business side. The did a good attempt (some may say the forced there custumers). I think Apple should give the clients a choice. But dont think other compangny's are different. Apple is not the worst.

There you have me. I that case you are right. Im not in the know why apple doesnt do that. But there is a other big thing most people forget. If you look at the sorting method. Apple (and others) does it the right way. In A+ its absent, and thats a very big problem for me. With 7000 cd's Do you know how mutch "John an THE" there are? I dit not count them but thats a immense problem for me. Like i said before: this is my problem and iam vere happy with my system. Its all very personal and im glad there are so many opinions. Thats why this forum is for. I like to say i like my music collection very much. In the first place i want to enjoy the software (music) in second place the hardware witch i also love, but it's just a tool to enjoy. I also like computers. It was my job for more than 30 years, but i have no intention to become a developer. I just want that my macs all work fine and without problems. Philippe

Sorry to disagree with you, but the tagging in itunes is one of only exact ways. I think it's ID Tag version 2.4. This is specified in codexes and agreed by most big players in the audio-industry. Are there better methods? I gues. But please follow the rules or dont be angry if it not works. Is ID Tagging version 2.4 perfect? Absolutely not. But it's a refrence Philippe

What i mean is this: If you look at this forum, you see 50% people with problems. Not all problems are related to the program (lots of differend configurations). You can't deny the are there. I give one exemple: i imported more than 7000 cd's over the years. with previous versions no problems. Now with te new version about 40% of my tags are not recognised. If you have that many files you not gonna bigin to do it al over. I know there are Dough scrips and the like, but i wait for a better solution. If you look at my profile i can state that i have good and revealing hardware. So the thing is ihave never had a bad sound with previous versions. So why would i change now. I was happy with itunes intergreted mode. Itunes stays the best db for me. As a sidenote i have nere had a problem with itunes as my database. This is all very personal, and im happy with the fact that there are different opinions, but this is mine. Philippe

I dont want to offend anyone. I mean that if you like to listen music without to think about the technical side. you better of with previous version. Sit down take your iPad and enjoy the music. I know there are people with no problems. Im sure that the problems gonna be solved. But for alot of people thats not the case at this moment. To be clear: i use a+ for a couple of years now and im a satisfied custumer. I have paid for the upgrade because i believe in the future of the program and in Damien. Philippe

For a real musiclover, absolutly not. For someone who likes spending time with computers (like me) yes. If you like both give it a try. Im sure in the future it has alot of potential. If you dont need the database function wait until there is bether sq. The previous versions soud and work great. Philippe
