  1. Well, I found the problem. I removed the case and there was a scratch mark at one of the chip solder points. The manufacturer had too much solder at one connection and had tried to remove it. I was able to clean up the connections and lo and behold it worked. I also noticed some scratches on the front display. It is my opinion that the piece had been returned before. Just happy that it works now. It was purchased from Schenzhenaudio. They did agree to replace it.(shipping on my dime). On another note. I cannot get dsd512 to work without the hissing in one channel. dsd256 works but dsd128 sounds much fuller.
  2. My problem is that my computer will not recognize the USB-100 as any connection at all. It fails enumeration. If I cannot find the USB-100, I will not be able to flash it.
  3. Wow. I see you are using the USB-100, minorisuke. I take it you had to remove the case in order to accomplish the firmware update? On the amanero site they show shorting out the center and square surface pads. Could you show the correct shorting point on the usb-100? Thanks. I am only skeptical because there is absolutely no response from the usb-100 as it is. Thanks
  4. Thanks thinman72, I believe that minorisuke is referring to the amanero 384 board that is for sale as a separate piece. This usb-100 is using the amanero chip but on its own proprietary pcb. I wonder if bobb has taken one apart yet.....
  5. Thinman72, did you have to flash a firmware update on your unit? I really do not want to take this apart if it is no good. Thanks
  6. I used USBview to check on the input. usb into the LKS MH-DA003: [Loc42] Device Connected: Amanero Technologies USB Driver 1.0.57 usb into the LKS USB-100: [Loc42] Device Failed Enumeration: Unknown USB Device ( Device Descriptor Request Failed ) This tells me that the new interface is not playing nice with my computer. Let's see what the seller says.
  7. Yes. I tried the coax. Actually have every connection hooked up at the moment. Getting nothing. Maybe I got a bad part.
  8. Strange. Got the message that the asio could not be started and then back to the sample rate error. Cannot get the asio error again though.
  9. When I cycle through the inputs the usb-100 shows dsd256 when I am on the usb input. When I select the i2se input, the usb-100 goes back to 44.1. It shows 44.1 on all the other inputs. I'm using foobar2000 and dsd native with the amanero 384 driver. Foobar2000 is upconverting to dsd 256 for all music, so I believe that the usb-100 should be showing dsd256 across the range.
  10. I upgraded the usb input on the LKS MH-DA003 to the interface using the 957 chips. I'm using foobar2000 with native dsd in the asio setting. Everything works fine using the amanero 384 driver. When I plug into the LKS USB-100 I get nothing.
  11. Did you have to make special cables to work with LKS-MA-D003 dac? My system is working fine with usb to the dac, but when I try to use this interface, I get an error code that "could not query sample rate". I am assuming that the signal is not getting from usb to i2s. I am using standard hdmi and/or straight through ethernet. Thanks for any help.
  12. Not $1000.00 better for sure. Still waiting for the total break in period. I've got about 100 hours on them now with 200 more to go. The electro-harmonix tubes made a bigger first impression than the caps. The Duelund caps have a neutral, even presentation of the full sound spectrum. Very liquid. Great dynamics.
  13. I am finally finished with the mods to the dac. For now..... I purchased a JVC receiver from the local Value Village for 20 dollars. Gutted the case and made a new base using 1/8 inch aluminum and covered it with copper sheet. This gave lots of room for the Duelund capacitors. I kept the cooling fins for looks and future possible projects. The sound is everything I had hoped for. Simple as that. Here are some pics of the build.IMG_0054.zip IMG_0052.zip IMG_0049.zip
  14. Yes. Solen. 2.2 uF 400 volts. The super cyro tubes were an improvement, though. Using the solid state side of the dac is better with some recordings. Rock recorded in the 70's is more dynamic without the tube buffer.
