  1. Often at home and a lot at concerts. People have so many agendas when the show is going, I just wanna connect with the music. Interesting theory about closed eyes being a sleep trigger. I'll have to compare to dark environment with eyes open and see what I think
  2. I find the remix to be stunning and I am (I was?) typically against this kind of thing.
  3. Android hi-res phone users: I highly recommend checking out PowerAmp's new V3 alpha. Downloads - Poweramp List of devices known to work (2nd post) List of Android Devices with Hi-Res Audio Support (Internal DAC) - Poweramp v3 Testing - Poweramp Using my LG V10 (ESS Sabre) with the player set to use the new hi-res output engine, direct volume control enabled, SOX upsampling to 192k and tone/eq/limit disabled I'm getting some of the best sound I've heard from a portable device. Reminds me quite a bit of what I got using the iFi iDSD Nano with my phone in the past, maybe a little more detailed. I've tried USB Audio Player Pro, Onkyo HF Player and Neutron, best experience yet.
  4. I think it sounds amazing! Looking forward to possibly having better dynamics on the vinyl and sure it's not giving me a sense of natural space and stuff like that but I don't think they go for that. The album cranks and is very involving. It's a fantastic sonic experience on my Maggies
  5. mushrooms + maggies = woah!
  6. Barry Diament has a handful: Purchase Soundkeeper Recordings
  7. This may already be common knowledge but Buddy Holly - From the Original Master Tapes is the first compilation mastered by Steve Hoffman. Glad to see this thread, this song is one of my favorite to put on when people are over, or any time really. Sublime!
  8. Wildflowers! Not squashed!!! I've waited years for this :-) Signed, New Pono Customer
  9. Both great rec's. I love Diana Krall's album, great music and sound!
  10. I highly suggest the Parlophone vinyl, or vinyl rips as they mastered much better than the CDs. At least, until they hook up some well mastered, hi-res files.
  11. Thank you, DaQi. That's almost too simple of a solution for me though. I intend to use JRiver at minimum for running streams through it, but I may want to use XXHighEnd or HQPlayer or whatever else comes along. Also, I would much prefer an Android tablet over iOS. I do see that there are Android solutions for controlling JRiver, such as Gizmo. I'll try the app and see how it goes. Still need to figure out the two PC scenario. Seems like this may require me to compile info from several threads here, to figure out what works for me. Thanks again.
  12. Many thanks for this thread and the 2nd post! Just grabbed both and I'm really liking them. The 3rdeyegirl album has that wonderful crankability that I love. It's a little gritty and compressed, but some of the most tasteful use I've heard in a while. It's not like Tom Petty's new CD (though the download is great) or David Bowie's Reality, which are too compressed to enjoy, IMO. Still working through the other album, but I dig it so far. Very Prince!
  13. Are you referring to the 10" Kid A vinyl release? If so, Parlophone or Capitol issue? I do love the Parlophone vinyl releases of their catalog, minus the distortion at the end of Amnesiac, but it's minor. I can't find anything online about any 24 bit releases, aside from KoL. I find it hard to imagine that it hasn't been discussed around the web and that said 24 bit releases haven't popped up. I would greatly appreciate any more info on these, if they do indeed exist. Thank you!
  14. Almost looks like JBL to me. Does the logo have letters or am I inventing that?
  15. What I find interesting here is that the OP suggests that improving ones equipment leads to a more detailed, mechanical sound. In my limited experience, some improvements to the digital side of my system have resulted in a more relaxed sound that is clear, but smooth and analog like (I kinda hate saying analog like, but I think people know what I mean). Perhaps that isn't always the case, but I don't think the opposite is either. I don't think addressing concerns in the digital system is any different than playing with different tubes, op amps, tone arms, cables, etc. People have always had the option of listening too much to the system and not enough to the music as well. To be literal, no I don't think a system can sound too good. I do think a system can sound too (insert any adjective that is not synonymous with good), depending on what the listener likes. It's up to each individual to decide.
