What I am curious about is in Task Manager, seeing "System Interrupts/Deferred procedure calls and interrupt service routines" at up to 4% CPU usage. Do you see that with your machine? Thanks.

1. I have already updated the firmware on the Classe - I do not suspect that it is an issue with the Classe since I am able to play high res flac file perfectly well with my laptop. 2. Yes, I have tried all the ports - no difference. 3. I am not sure what you mean by "standard redbook CD's", but when I rip a regular CD to a 16bit/44.1 khz flac file, they play much better - I can hear maybe a single pop per song, but much less than the 24bit/96 khz files.

I do not see any noticeable difference whether I play from memory or not.

Thank you for your reply - in the future, I will attach a file for config details. 1. I tried different buffer settings including 500ms but snaps are even worse, it sounds best at 100 ms. 2. I turned DoP, automatic sync, and the printer service off. 3. I am not playing any flac files above 24 bit/96khz, which the Classe handles with out updated drivers. It plays these files fine when using JRiver on my lap top. When I run the JRiver Benchmark utility on the machine, it only gets a score of 664. Does this machine not have the guts to stream bit perfect music through USB? When I look at Task Manager, I see JRiver only using 2% of cpu cycles at most. The only other thing I see using cycles is "System Interrupts/Deferred procedure calls and interrupt service routines" at up to 4% - is this typical? The other thing I am not certain of is how much the sound card is used since I am not doing any output modifications in JRiver. The sound card is obviously not great, is that the cause of my problem, or could my problem be with my USB drivers? Thanks for your help!

I am a newbie, and have just purchased my first computer to be used as a music server. I am having a problem in that I am getting snaps and pops when attempting play back of primarily 24bit/96khz flac files. The pops will happen 2 to 3 times a minute in the middle of songs. Usually pops, sometimes very loud sharp snaps. There are many fewer pops when playing ripped cd's 16bit/44.1 khz.
