  1. Any idea how I transfer my 2.6 License file purchased 2/1/17 to 3.0??? My license number was not included in the email from Avangate and appears to be encoded.
  2. Updated to OSX Mavericks on my headless Mac Mini. Screen Sharing was disabled after the update and restart. Was a bit of a hassle getting a keyboard/mouse and video cable to my TV screen. I have reinitiated screen sharing and all seems well.
  3. Krellman, I made my measurements with the same method you describe. 3 feet separation on all positions paying attention to the comparative height as shown in the iRC Measure "chair". You are correct, you wind up with a giant chair but I also think great results. I added a new filter last night for a different room with KEF LS50's literally installed in my bookshelf and at odd angles from my listening chair. I am shocked at how well iRC transformed this modest installation. I am completely sold on Amarra with iRC, it has turned out to be my single most cost effective audio purchase and improvement. Instructions could be improved but this thread contains a ton of great advice thanks to Richard.
  4. Munchoba, my best results have been being careful with mic placements (including height/proximity) following the iRC diagram but also adhering to the 1meter separation between all measuring points recommendation made by Sonic. After the measurements have been made, I simply hit optimize, save the filter (in my documents folder), and to my ears and with my gear the best results have been created. Every time I have manually tweaked with targets, frequency range, etc., it has turned out for the worse. The software works amazingly well. Also, be sure and save your measurements as a project file as you go along. You will be glad you did.
  5. I I used to be in a dedicated listening room in my basement with extensive ASC room treatment but decided to emerge from my lonely man cave, downsize my system extensively (no more tubes), and move upstairs to the light of day in the living room. Through this process I kept my Thiel 1.6 speakers and REL subwoofer because they make a very nice couple. Anyway, even with the magic of REL, the room remained too boomy, turning down the REL, the Thiel's seemed to thin and strident. So I just turned everything down. With Amarra IRC, you can see the room measurements in my untreated room were atrocious. Big boom in the 35-40 hz region, and a bright peak at 1-2 kHz. The weird thing is my speakers in this room roll off much more tha I expected. What I have found (at least for me), my first measurements were not carefully taken, but with the second I tried to carefully adhere to CA advice, the IRC Measure Manual, and the Online Video. What I have found and realizing my speakers are inherently flat (read bright), any amount of tweaking with targets, reducing the range of the filter, etc. has all had a NEGATIVE effect. For me and my setup, paying attention to all of the advice on CA and Sonic Studios when measuring made more of a positive improvement than any manual tweaking of Filter Creation within IRC Measure. At least at this time for me and my gear and after a bunch of wasted time tweaking targets, using the default optimization I am still ecstatic with the results and have put my XTZ mic away for awhile. For best results I used Chair Mode and faithfully followed the 1m rule (by Sonic) as well as the height/perspective info from the IRC Measure diagram. Just realize that your chair is really a 9' cube. I hope this helps other users.
  6. Supra, not sure IRC is available as a demo. I recieved an e-mail from Sonic Studios to upgrade for $329. I followed the online KAGI store instructions and was mailed an e-mail with the user name/passcode to unlock IRC measure. I also purchased a XTZ mic to implement. Sonic has also ignored e-mails from me and probably just about every other user but don't give up. When you finally do make contact with them they are actually very good at following through. I would contact [email protected] to see if you qualify for the discounted upgrade.
  7. I have been unable to post because my old CA account password was messed up. Could never get CA to send me a reset so I just created a new account. (I used to be mpaulson2001). Anyway, I just setup my iRC filters yesterday and today with an XTZ mic as recommended by Sonic. I used the couch mode yesterday but probably wasn't super careful with mic placement, the resulting filter improved imaging but seemed a bit boomy. I went through the process again this morning in chair mode and was much more careful to following not only relative horizontal positions but vertical height as well using the various views provided by IRC measure. I was also much more careful to maintain the 1 meter distance between all placements. Thus far I am thrilled with the results. Everything has improved - imaging, pace, timbre, and bass seems more extended and far less boomy than I have managed on my own. Highly Recommended!!
