  1. Oh, I see, you got the Strada 1, then, not Strada 2, am I right? I saw them advertised as Strada 1 for £1050 inc. VAT! So, have you decided whether you will keep them or send them back? If you are used to boxed speakers they will definitely sound weird to you! best,
  2. You are welcome! Thanks for the link, that is the website I went to, but there is no online section! Did you just contact them on the contact page and ask them if you could buy two Strada 2 speakers for £800? Because if that is the case, I am going to do it now!! Please let me know if this is what you have done! Regarding your worries, there are a couple of things to bear in mind about gallo's reference type of speakers: - They are very transparent, and since they are not enclosed in a normal box, there is no boxy coloration. I think most of what you are experiencing is due to the fact that you were used to speakers which impart their own sonic dingbat ire to the music you are listening. - I agree, the placement of the speakers is important, for surrounds it is fine to the wall, a bit less for fronts, unless you are keeping them a bit spaces to create the soundstage. They should sound amazing with proper positioning! - the subwoofer placement (apart from model) is very important too, especially in a close setting such as yours, so you will need to experiment, but not until you have given them a proper run in, otherwise all your assessment will be affected, so I would suggest you leave them running for a few days and then start critical listening. You need good quality recordings because if you feed crap in you will get crap out, as they are very transparent. i hope it helps!
  3. Hello, bear in mind that you need to break the speakers in for around 200hours (and trust me, as I have done it with Ref3.5, it does make a huge difference!!!) with not very loud music and of a varied nature so that you exercise the drivers and loosen the rubbers etc. the kynar tweeter needs to work for a while too, otherwise it will sound weird and harsh. Also, the music from the speakers will help the internal dumping to reposition itself after the shipping, and that also makes a difference ;again, personally tested!). On a separate note, please would you send me the website where you got them from? I looked for Anthony gallo uk but it does not seem to sell online direct in uk, maybe I am using the wrong website? Much appreciate your help, I am dying for a pair of those Strada 2 for surround and central!! Thanks!
  4. Hi, I think as stand alone speakers probably would not work well, you need a subwoofer! I would be using as surround speakers, so for me they should be ok. please would you send me the website where you got them? I looked for Anthony gallo but it does not seem to sell online direct in uk, maybe I am using the wrong website? Thanks!
  5. At the moment I am using an ATI (Amplifier Technology, Inc.) AT2007, 200W x 7, fully balanced, and ATI ATP8700 as the preamp/receiver, fed by the balanced stereo output of the OPPO 105. The pre-outs of the ATP8700 feed the Gallo Reference 3 SA for the sub inputs of the Refs 3.5. Theoretically I would need more than 200 watts per speaker, we know, power is never enough :-) To have the Stradas for surround and center would compliment the 3.5s perfectly, especially at that price!
  6. i should add, here in Wakes, UK, where I am based (A Gallo does not sell online in UK).
  7. Hello there! I am new to the forum! I own Ref 3.5s and thinking about either the Strada or Strada 2 for surrounds and centre channel. May I ask you where you got that offer from? It is an amazing deal, and I have been looking around on web (there is noGallo dealers here around) but could not find anything comparable! Thanks!
