  1. Small update: it turns out only 1 module is causing the problems but strangely with this faulty module inserted, in any slot, on its own or together with the other one, the system is completely dead, no BIOS/POST output. Everything works fine with only the good module inserted. But when I insert these 2 modules in my main pc (Asus P7P55D mainboard) the system starts up fine, but Windows8.1 cannot start due to errors.
  2. Thanx for the advice! This motherboard doesn't have a console-speaker so it does not beep. I found a very old console-speaker but could not get it to work. In the mean time I continued troubleshooting and for now it seems the memory modules died in action (not sure if there was a BSOD as the system was headless). I swapped the faulty modules into my working pc and Windows 8.1 could not start due to errors. I swapped working memory into the Zuma audio-pc and finally I was able to see a BIOS/POST screen again! So for now I need to RMA the memory modules. In my whole pc-building-carreer I have never seen memory modules completely fail from one minute to the other (remember: the Zuma audio-pc failed while playing music). So I am still wondering what happened here...
  3. Recently I have built a Caps Zuma audio pc using the following components: Intel core i5 4670T Asus H87M-E G-Skill memory Samsung SSD Streacom nano psu (150W) Streacom FC5WS case SoTM USB card Everything worked fine for a month. Last week it died on me while playing music. Since then I tried the following: disconnect everything except cpu & Streacom powerbutton/powerled connect Seasonic G-550 psu (atx+cpu powerlines) connect chassisfan reset BIOS/rtc using jumper and removing battery When powering up I would expect to see at least my bios/POST screen when connecting a monitor to the VGA or DVI output. Unfortunately nothing. The chassisfan spins up. The motherboard powerled (SB_PWR) is lit when connected to the PSU. When I add a strip of ram it behaves differently. The chassisfan spins up, but shuts down after a second. This behavior repeats itself. This results in a blinking Streacom powerled. At this point it seems it cannot power up at all? Anybody any idea's what else I could try to determine the cause? For now it seems either the motherboard died or the CPU died. In another forum somebody suggested the VRM modules on the Asus mainboard died because there is no cooling/airflow. Any experts outhere who can say something on this?
  4. After a month my system suddenly stopped working (while it was running). After troubleshooting it looks like the motherboard died. Somebody suggested to me the CPU Voltage Regulation Modules (VRM modules) can't run for prolonged time while being passively cooled. Anybody any experience with that? Any other suggestions? (Current state: the system won't start while being powered by a working Seasonic G-550 psu, everything is disconnected except the cpu and power-cables (atx+cpu). Afaik it should show at least the bios-screen.)
  5. Here are my experiences: I just built my Caps Zuma using a Intel Core I5 4670T haswell processor and an Asus H87M-E mainboard. I used a Streacom NanoPSU instead of the recommended PicoPSU. I had zero issues while building the Zuma. Everything fits and works perfectly fine. I did have to install Windows8-pro twice because the initial installation considered my upgrade-productkey unsuitable as I did a fresh/clean install. This was solved by installing Windows8 a second time. I also did a Prime95 stresstest to heat up the CPU, after 30mins the temperature reached 75 degrees Celsius. I don't think this system can be pushed to the max for hours and hours, it will probably throttle down to deal with the excess heat.
  6. On my Win8 system the driver creates in the device manager a new entry/device-type "Musical Fidelity USB 2.0 audio devices" which has underneath it "Musical Fidelity V-Link 192". At the same time in the systemtray/taskbar-notification-area a new "T"-icon appears which directs to the Thesycon USB audio control panel. If all this doesn't happen for you then I have no clue...
  7. Did you install the drivers as provided by MF? http://www.musicalfidelity.com/uploads/software-downloads/Windows8-USB/MF-USB-192-V1.61.0win32-64.zip
