MSI responded; Dear sir/madamThanks for contacting MSI technical support.Regarding your concern,in theory, the s/pdif can support the 24/192KHz sample rate, but the audio needs to be decoded, your DAC device also need to support this sample rate. Thanks for your cooperation in advance!Best Regards,MSI Technical Support Team Chord specify that Hugo TT can accept 24/192 via Toslink. .

Hi Fryderyk, yes that's my motherboard and on jmmbarco's suggestion (thanks jmmbarco) I came to the same conclusions , Realtek specs say it is supported but various other forums say Realtek doesn't work at 192kHz via Toslink. So couldn't say if Toslink 192 is supported or not. The sound quality at other frequencies is excellent and doesn't go through Paul Pang USB card, Jitterbug, Intona isolator, Uptone Regen etc !! Best regards, KM

Hi Fryderyk, I've been following AnotherSpin's efforts to get wtfplay working via Toslink with some success and the sound is good. I'm using optical connection direct from my motherboard to Chord Hugo TT and get excellent results from 16/44.1 up to 24/96 but I can't any sound for 24/192. Chord specify that the dac will work for 24/192 via Toslink. Maybe you have some ideas to try. Best regards,KM

I haven't tried anything else but maybe Audacity or shntool (see http://www.alpinesoft.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=402.0 ) might be worth a try.

VinylStudio from http://www.alpinesoft.co.uk/ will do it. Mac version available. I have used it (Windows version) to join dsf files and use in wtfplay. There's a tree trial version to try before you buy.

Hi Jiffi32, a couple of questions for you if I may. My Regen is on the way and should be arriving next week, I'm a Chord Hugo owner and I have it since May 2014. I don't switch it off at all, it is fed by a PPA V2 USB card powered by an Anker battery , which together with the PC is switched off when not in use. Do you have any powering up sequence recommendations from your experience? KM

That's the answer we want to hear. It may not be of much benefit to you but we really do appreciate it. -

This is my first-ever post on CA. I've been greatly enjoying MQN in the past week or so and the sound quality is stunning and it has edged into the number one position among players. I have already heard a 24/96 trial version in a friend's place last week and the sound was superb. I'm keenly awaiting the release of a version which can handle 24/88 and 24/96 and at that point there'll be a lot of decommissioning of streaming/network gear. I know it's best to get the 16/44.1 into best shape first but do you have any visibility on a hi-res edition.
