  1. finally, i re-installed Foobar & all the components, and Voila! Everything is ok! Plays dsd with asio, not dop ... the good thing is that even in high gain, it is dead silent (no hum or anything) and it drives HiFiMan HE 500 with great ease !
  2. I've just bought the marantz hd-dac1 but I cannot configure foobar to play native dsd ... I'm not inexperienced, before this I had an Audio-gd dac and played dsd through foobar flawlessly. I have installed the foo_input_sacd from soundforge website, I choose foo_dsd_asio as foobar's output and the in the asio tab, I configure ''foo_dsd_asio'' to use the ''marantz audio device'' .... No matter if I choose ''asio native'' or ''dop'' in the following su-menu, I have no playback ... Can you help ??
  3. Hi, Codifus you recommended replacing the power supply ... do you have something readily available in mind, that we could easily order on line, or so ? Thanks Spyros
  4. since I only need to use this 0404 as a usb intrface and dac, do I really need to install any of the other software that is included in the bundle ??? ( I really think that I should discard all these .... ) ..
  5. I happily received my 0404 yesterday evening but had no time to deal with it. I read all your remarks concerning the software players. My initial intention was to go with Foobar, but after your experience, I realized that maybe the way to go is with Wavelab. I wonder, can Wavelab play flac ? (I'm only asking because the majority of my material is encoded with flac, and I would consider it very time consuming to decode around 200 gigas .... ) If not, which -according to your opinion- is the second best solution ???
  6. Actually, I became interested in the thing, after I downloaded some 24/96 material that really excelled in sound quality, beating my vinyl and cd reproduction system. This is the way to go, for sure... I was also glad to find that there is already enough classical music 24/96 material available, to make a good beginning. Keep up with the good work guys, this is an excellent forum ..
  7. your comments were very helpful... I think I'm going to stick with the 0404 for the time, and later, when things mature a little bit, look for an upscale solution ... thanks a lot ...
  8. Hi everyone, I'm Spyros from Greece, Being a traditional audiophile for many years, I'm up to challenge my luck in the computer audio field. As a start I would like to use my 4 years old laptop, with the 0404. Furthermore I intend to buy a external hard disk (Lacie 1 terra with usb interface) to store my HD 24/96 music. My laptop has 3 USB 2.0 ports . However, I wonder if I could simultaneously connect the Lacie and the 0404, and make the whole thing work smoothly. And that's because I 've read somewhere that all the USB's use a common bandwidth (or something like that), so I don't know if I 'll have all the 'capacity' needed to finally have a 24/96 output (either from digital or analog outputs of the 0404) to my amp. Any comments ? Should I buy a firewire audio interface instead, (eg. M-Audio firewire solo) and hook it up the firewire port of my Compaq? Thank you for your attention .
