  1. Funny , i don't really know if the ifi really improved the sound that much. I plan on using this on my headphone setup which is beside my desktop computer. I am leaning towards the usbridge since i plan on using volumio with an attached external hard drive and the price is cheaper. I don't know what to expect from the allo unit. Reading reviews seems to indicate that the digone sig and the usbridge sig sound pretty similar. I am not in a hurry . Do they have any discount for black friday?
  2. I am presently using my desktop computer's usb output into a ifi usb and then to a chord hugo. I have used a raspberry pie + hifi berry digi + to the hugo but did not find it much better than the 1st configuration. Would the allo usbridge sig be much of an improvement? Also is the shanti power supply make much of a difference, since the hugo does not need the usb power.
  3. I own a pair of audeze lcd-x but have not heard the 4z. I think sonis is reporting what he heard. Why would he do otherwise? He has nothing to gain by giving a bad review. On the other hand , it is hard to believe that audeze would make such a bad headphone at this price point. Sonis alread said he no problems with the lcd-2 and 3. This leads me to believe that there is something wrong with his friends pair of 4z. Did audeze even listen to the pair that was returned to them before or after the repair? They exchanged the driver but maybe that was not the only problem with the headphones. This speculation but hopefully sonis can listen to the pair sent to Chris.
  4. The bdp does support dsd. Finding a proper ps3 to rip my sacd was too much of a problem but the pioneer blu ray player made the process alot easier. I was playing dff files prior to the update.
  5. I ripped the files as dff. I am using a bryston bdp-2 and assume it is sending it as dsd. Before the upgrade i think the lights were lit correctly. The music sounds fine although the output level has decreased.
  6. I just got my ma-1 updated. When i play my ripped sacd files the 44.1 + 88.2 are lit. Are the ripped sacd files not dsd64?
  7. Tried to run as administrator but it did not work. My dealer called emm labs and they sent me a new link to download the file. My dealer at that time also updated my ma-1 to version 2. After listening for about 3 hours, this is a very big upgrade. Everything was improved. There is more detail ie i am hearing things that was not apparent to me before. The dynamics are greater than before. The bass improved with better tonality, tightness and volume. There is an overall greater richness and focus to the sound. In video language , it was like going from a cheap washed out lcd tv to a 4k oled hdr tv. This is one of the best upgrades that i have done. Now i have to burn it in for 2 days.
  8. I tried to install the usb driver for windows 64 but could not get past the agreement page. Normally you would select agree and hit next but there is no response. There should be a page of what the agreement entails but it is missing. I think this is why i can't advance.
  9. The firmware upgrade for the v2 is only for the version 2 ma-1 and dac2x. There is a warning not to use on the version 1 machine since it can results in damage/malfunction of the version 1 machine.
  10. I am going to get the update for my ma-1. Unfortunately my pre-amp is in for repairs or else i would have it done by my dealer. The dealer told me it would take 10 days to order the part(s). Since he is about a 3 hr drive from me (6 hrs back and forth), he agreed that i could drop it off in the morning and be able to pick it up later that day. I will try to post some impressions once i get it done.
  11. I too was waiting for the firmware to be released on their website but i finally emailed my dealer and got a link to the update.
  12. I also was waiting for the update to appear on their website but finally e-mailed my dealer to get the link for the update. They don't seem to respond to their e-mail questions.
  13. Albert, did you also disconnect the USB cable? If using the same PC that you did the upgrade with did you reboot the PC after the upgrade? Also is the PC a Windows PC or a Mac that you are using with the MA-1? If a Windows you need to also upgrade the USB Driver. It is my understanding that the Firmware is ready for prime time. If none of the above is helpful Meitner is very helpful. I was using a laptop running window 7 home premium. I did disconnect the usb cable. I am not using a computer but use bryston bdp-1 vis aes/ebu. The only thing is that i did not upgrade the usb driver. I had never had to do that before with any of my computers. The upgrade went smoothly as the screen flashed success. I had email meitner directly if they had a link to the new firmware but had no answer from them.- (i had received the link from another helpful member here). I hesitate to call them since i assume it is not official yet ie not on their website.
