  1. I do not think Vega supports native DSD like Yulong DA8. Bet JRiver ASIO still wraps it into DoP behind the scene.
  2. 802.11ac as wi-fi? Is it compatible with g/n or we all need to upgrade to the latest and greatest laptops/routers that support that relatively new standard.
  3. Very nice table in this review showing correlation between attenuation and dynamic compression for analogue and digital. 6moons audio reviews: AURALiC Vega
  4. Tyll posted a good article on that very topic a while back Across the Great Divide: Can We Love Headphones & Speakers Equally?
  5. LOL at HD800 "smearing" sound. I am sure your intent was to say something else as this is closed phones that have problem with soundwave back reflection that "smears" the sound. Reason almost all "flaghips" are open design.
  6. I wasn't asking for absolutely best. I bet good 1.5K-2.5K floor standing speakers will be on par or better that HD800. Considering that typical head-fier has more than one HP, with flagship prices hovering around $1.5-2K range, that makes HP based setup more expensive than building speaker system. BTW, this HDVD800, esp DAC section, is not that good.
  7. HD800 cost $1500, what model of speakers and for how much would provide similar performance.
  8. Has anyone experienced any issues with new driver? After installing (following instruction precisely) my unit experiencing some difficulties switching between format. - After switching from PCM to DSD128 playback is mute, takes flipping input to something non USB and back to make it work - Sometimes after switching from DSD128 back to 44.1 material, the treble is severely rolled off, flipping through filters fixes it.
  9. If there is no power, iUSB just passes power from computer, it doesn't cut it off. Tape 5v pin (no 4) on data side (PC) and see how it goes.
  10. Interesting, my SW version is 1.5, does that mean my Vega is obsolete? Dear AURALiC, we want firmware update.
  11. I've never tried included cable, just jumped straight to Belkin Gold. But here's one interesting thing, reading Yulong DA8 thread on head-fi I've learned the trick of covering pin 1 and 4 on USB PC Side (5v and ground) with electrical tape (I've just used packaging scotch as it's thinner), and I swear it made already impeccable sound from USB even cleaner, background is completely black (like pitch pitch black) now and I feel that soundstage expanded a bit as a result of it.It's free an IMO well worth the try.
  12. Mr. Wang explained me via email that white noise during DSD playback is analogous to drop outs with PCM, same thing just manifest itself differently. Running in AUTO eliminates the problem, EXACT is more finicky due to the nature and higher demand to the stability of the incoming USB stream.
  13. Never mind, looks like 2.16 TheSycon (as shown in Audio Driver Control Panel)
  14. Wow, 2.16, is that TheSycon version or your internal. The latest I saw was 1.67.
  15. I don't think tinkering with foobar2000 ASIO buffer helped any. I still can reproduce it by playing 44.1 PCM, followed by DSD64 and then DSD128. It's just short white noise hiss shortly after starting the playback. Guess, all that formats switching confuses receiver or filter as it's seem easier reproducible with filter 1 than filter 4.
