  1. Thanks! I also love headphones, but for a couple of reasons I want to go down the speaker route. First is that I often listen to classical music and I like the sound-stage that speakers give. It's more like I'm at a concert, and I enjoy the atmosphere of sitting in front of the music source. Secondly, sometimes it's nice to sit down and listen to a recording with my wife on the sofa. And you can't really do that with headphones. I'm surprised no one has experience with the weirdo bit of software that the screenshots show for actually changing the way the amplifier processes the musical signal. It seems right up the Computer Audophile street. It makes me even more excited about playing with it, though. I'll post some more questions and thoughts when I get my grubby hands on the thing, which will probably be in October sometime...
  2. Hello all. I'm new here. I live in Guangzhou, China, and have recently become somewhat excited about building a new system for my (home) office. I have access to all the wonderful whacky world of Shenzhen hifi and was wondering if I could enlist your help a bit. However, I'm also on a budget. To kick off, has anyone seen Clapr? It seems to be a very cheap (free as in beer) way to get a basic room accoustic measurement. Here on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.seeth.clapir&hl=en It appears to be able to measure your rooms frequency response. Rather imperfectly, but still it does it. Would this be enough for a simple EQ approach to DRC? Rather than creating a complex filter I could perhaps just use it to do a relatively basic equalisation by hand? And then the next thing. I found this: ÀÊÔÏÊý×Ö¹¦·ÅºÍµçÄÔÁ¬½Ó¹¤¾ß°å-ÌÔ±¦Íø which seems to be a way to actually CHANGE THE WAY A DIGITAL AMPLIFIER PROCESSES THE DATA STREAM. Which sounds like magic to me, and perfect since I'll be building the system around a full digital amplifier. Has anyone heard of this kind of thing? Does anyone recognize those screen shots? Looking forward to your responses! d.
