  1. Thanks Chris - that solved the problem. Back up running and sounding phenomenal! Cheers, Chuck
  2. Update: I am trying to configure the BBB as outlined in the FIRST CA Academy BBB article from 2013. Chris, I cannot connect to the NAS. I have posted an update of my progress in the message board of that article. If anyone can help me out I would be grateful Thanks Chuck
  3. Hi Chris and others, I'm a Noob trying to reconfigure my BBB to run with a synology DS1515+ NAS I had this thing running flawlessly a couple years ago off a different NAS but since then my network has changed and the BBB can no longer access the music folder. Unfortunately I didnt save the original fstab network configuration. So far I have been able to flash and update the original 2013 Debian image referenced in this article onto the BBB revision A5B. I can communicate with the BBB via ssh. I cannot access the NAS- it does not show up when the "mount" command is run. I have tried various different entries in the fstab file, none of which allow me to connect. I suspect this is an issue with the syntax in my fstab file. The shared music folder is on volume1/music of the NAS. I have entered the following in fstab: //192.168.0.188/ds1515plus/volume1/music (where the IP address is static and reserved for the DS1515+) followed by the string mentioned in the instructions. When I reboot the BBB and run the mount command the NAS isnt listed. Is this the correct syntax for the fstab entry? or is there something else I am missing? Thanks for your assistance Chuck
  4. Hi Chris, Yes that's interesting. On a lark I reflashed the board using an old version of debian 7.1 and it is now visible on the network, with a reserved IP address. So there is an incompatibility between the A5B version and your kernel. I am a Noob at this. My options are now to either manually configure the old board, or order a new Revision C board and reflash with your image.
  5. Yes the ethernet port LEDs are active. No, I cannot connect to a monitor. Also I have determined the BBB board is revision A5B, at least 2 generations behind the board recommended. Anyone had success using the A5B? Thanks
  6. Hello, I have a BBB Board from a prior project- not revision C. Will this project work on older BBB boards? I have followed the instructions to flash the image onto the board but am unsure if the installation ran correctly. The flash took about 20 minutes during which the user LEDs flashed in "cylon mode", then when complete flashed solid. The board did not shut down automatically. After removing power and the microSD, the board booted up but I cannot find it on the network using LANScan. Despite multiple reboots the BBB is simply not detected on my network. Anyone have any ideas? thanks for your help Yes the ethernet port LEDs are active, same on the LAN switch No monitor connection

  8. Hi All, I built one of these a while ago and all was working well until I upgraded my NAS. The music folder feeding files to the Beagle has changed. I recall having to configure the share location when I originally set it up. I am a unix newbie! Could you please assist with the following: 1. how to login to BBB 2. Which file needs to be modified- how to locate and open 3. What the correct syntax needs to be for the new share location, and how to change the entry 4. How to save the revision and relaunch Thank you!
  9. Would really like to know the step-by-step setup instructions for this. Can you provide the link for the new blog entry, when it is available? Thanks
  10. Problem solved: 1,0 was transposed in the mpd.conf file. Its playing now- tremendously helpful!! I have a lot of 24/88 and some 24/96kHz recordings. Will the BBB support those natively, and if so how do I configure the device for playback of these hi res files? MANY thanks!
  11. the aplay -l command shows the mINT: **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: Black [TI BeagleBone Black], device 0: HDMI nxp-hdmi-hifi-0 [] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 1: USB [MINT Async USB], device 0: USB Audio [uSB Audio] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 1: USB [MINT Async USB], device 1: USB Audio [uSB Audio #1] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 All tracks stay paused whether using MPaD or ncmpc
  12. Another glitch- i can load tracks into the playlist on MPad and mpd but they will not play. Help!
  13. Indexing is complete- all music visible using ncmpc or MPad! BBB connected to DAC via USB (Wyred 4 Sound mINT) I can open and play music files in MPad but there is no sound coming from the mINT... Almost there, but not quite... Any further help appreciated!
  14. the /mnt/music ls command displays the subfolders in my music archive on the NAS, so the connection appears to be working. Also restarted mpd with no errors. Restarted the index update and now the is visible on the ncmpc window. Stay tuned!
  15. Dont see a U on the ncmpc page, and there are no tracks listed. No error message either Checked the log on my NAS and cant see any entries confirming that the BBB is connecting correctly Any suggestions on how to proceed?
