  1. I think I agree with what you guys have been saying on 1.5.10 in regards to it not having a sound of its own. These past days I have been using 1.5.10 exclusively since I know how easily one can be biased when it comes to older versions when under the impression something they got used to is lost. As some of you have pointed it out 1.5.10 does seem to reveal some differences in recording qualities that past versions did not since they made everything sound great. On the flip-side however well recorded music sounds absolutely superb on this version - as other users have pointed out going back to 1.5.9 seems very messy in comparison. I am still having to get used to mid/highs that have slightly less "edge"/being less punctuating (hard to put to words what it is that I'm hearing) but, as I was saying, while it is I something I miss ever-so-slightly it might also be that I am not used to this new and more accurate sound. I also have to remind myself that some of the shortcomings I may hear come from my setup and no longer from the player - which I think is easy to forget. Past less accurate/neutral/balanced versions may have been compensating such shortcomings. Anyway 1.5.10 has pretty much won me over. As always thank you Damien for the stellar software and support, and also thanks to everyone posting feedback/impressions. A lot of you are very experienced and your posts are very informative and help making me a little less of an audiophile newbie along with getting the best out of both A+ and my music. --Alex.
  2. After further listening I have come to the conclusion that to my ears 1.5.10 indeed has the superior SQ overall BUT does, in my opinion, have some mid/highs sound slightly veiled compared to 1.5.9. This is the one department where I think that version wins over 1.5.10. Even though I can't deny everything sounds better in 1.5.10 it just lacks some of the slight life/magic edge 1.5.9 had in the mid/highs. --Alex.
  3. I also have to agree with Panelhead. I really can't fault 1.5.10 in terms of sound quality... It does seem top notch and is probably superior to its predecessor. But on some recordings (I do mean some) 1.5.9 does sound a little more enjoyable (slightly sharper/prevalent high-end?). Going to do some more listening but my mind is not made up quite yet on which version I prefer sound-wise. --Alex.
  4. Just when I think sound quality could not possibly get even better a new version comes out that improves it. Could not be happier with A+. Thank you! Alex
  5. I have encountered a new bug using this build. It seems that playback skips to an incorrect spot when the song length exceeds the "max allocated memory for preload". The skip occurs at the end of the first preloaded "chunk". Hope this helps and thank you again for the ongoing support! Alex.
  6. Thanks for the response and help! I do not use iTunes integrated mode and am not familiar with smart playlist. Just standard stand-alone A+ playlist with "Repeat All" enabled. --Alex.
  7. Hi For my first post I just want to add my name to the long list of "thank you"s for this amazing piece of software! The sound quality is better than ever and I could not be happier. My addiction to music is stronger than ever! I do, however, have the same problem some other people have mentioned where music will stop at random times (could be any song or anywhere during that song). I have installed the latest build and tried doing what Damien suggested to properly reset both the computer and the DAC (that could be in a bad state) but that has not worked. It's not something that bothers me all that much but I thought I should mention that the problem isn't fixed for me. Using a Meridian Explorer DAC connected to an OSX 10.8.4 Macbook Pro. Hope this help! --Alex.
  8. The DR number number is actually not that surprising when you consider what kind of music NIN makes. Very industrial and heavy sounding. The audiophile version is quite enjoyable and sounds a little less dry and slightly more developed. Overall I think the album is fairly well recorded and like it. But you should not be going in expecting crazy dynamic range and sound-stage! The latest "How to Destroy Angels" had a similar low-ish DR number but also sounds pretty good in my opinion. Anyway those are my two cents! --Alex.
