  3. Hi, All, I’m a newbie here and I’ve been reading the good advice and thoughts in this forum for a couple of days now. My question concerns HD audio something which, apart from a couple of DVD-As, I’ve had little experience with. I recently inherited a number of SACDs. I don’t have a SACD player and my 7.1 amp does not have HDMI. It does, however, have (to my ears) excellent sound, so I have no plans to replace it at present. I also have a PS-3 with the required ROM version and I have ripped several of the SACDs to ISOs. My HT computer has 2 ATI Radeon 4890s running crossfire and I assume that a 4890 is providing the HD-audio decoding listed under my hardware profile. I play the SACD ISOs using Foobar2000 and the analog 7.1 outputs on the HT computer, which feed the corresponding inputs on the HT receiver. The result seems to be very good, with excellent multichannel sound. I assume there is some sort of conversion to PCM occurring, but is this setup, in the opinion of the folks here, a reasonable one to listen to SACDs? Is there anything I can do for a modest investment (say $200-$300) that could result in even better results? Thank You and Best Regards, Brian
