  1. Thanks everyone. For what it’s worth, this is the space:
  2. I think the best place for me to put my amp, streamer and turn table is in front of our radiator probably a foot or so away. The speakers would be a bit off to the side. I assume this would be a bad idea?
  3. Ok. I know I have trouble understanding this stuff. But basically, I need a dac/amp and speakers in every room? Doesn’t that get really expensive? (Or Sonos speakers?)
  4. I recently moved from a one bedroom apartment to a four bedroom house. I have my music files on a Mac Mini connnected by usb to a Peachtree DAC/Amp out to my Totem speakers. id like to stream music to other rooms in the house. If I use Roon and my Mini as the Core, what do I need to play music in another room? Internet enabled speakers? Regular speakers plugged into something? A Sonos speaker? Sorry, I know this is a dumb a question, but the Roon site seems to say a need another Roon-enabled amp type thing.
  5. Can someone tell me what the folder structure for iTunes (Music) should be on Monterey? Mine is: External Drive> iTunes Audiobooks Downloads-Music Home Videos Media Automatically add to Music Automatically add to TV Downloads-Music Media Automatically add to Music Music Automatically Add to Music Music Music Library.musiclibrary Mobile Applications Podcasts Tones TV Shows Movies/TV/Media [La Cie Files] Within that bottom Music folder (just above Music Library), are the individual folders for each artists. However, within that Music folder there is a sub-folder, also titled Music, which has about half of the artist folders. I have no idea when or how this folder was created. I don't know if I should just copy all of these files into one of the higher-level Music folders, or try to rearrange the whole thing. This structure seems quite messed up. And the big problem is that I can't get music to locate all of the music files. when I change the location of the music files, it "Updates", but Music will only play some of the files, and they rest it says it can't locate. I'd like to get this into a proper structure. Thanks!
  6. I see that Qobuz had a 24/192 and 24/96 version. I don't see any reviews on the site. any reason to believe these will sound materially better than the ACC version I've got to justify the price?
  7. If I make a change to the metadata for songs while the drive is attached to one computer, will that automatically update on the other computer? Similarly, if I add new music to the drive on one computer, will I have to import the files when I connect to the other computer?
  8. I just deleted the music library.musiclibrary file from itunes and re-imported everything on my external drive. It seemed to have worked, except some of the album covers are associated with the wrong albums. I can live with that if I can't figure out how to fix it. Thanks for help.
  9. Ok. somehow I managed to screw up my music library. I connected my external drive to my Work computer and designated it as the location of iTunes music. It imported the music. But many files are duplicated or missing. For example, I have some albums where every song appears twice in the library, but one version of each song has the exclamation point next to it and the filed are missing. I guess I can highlight each of these, but it's a pain in the butt to go through all of them. More troubling, some albums have many of the songs listed, but with the exclamation point. I'd have to go through each one and locate the song on the drive to fix it. Is there any easier way to do this? I assume if I just import all of the music on the external drive into the library, I'll end up with duplicates? Can I wipe the library somehow and start over?
  10. Thanks. I don't sync work files to the external drive. (I have another external drive that I used to back up my Work computer and my iTunes drive.)
  11. I've got two Mac Minis. A late 2014 running Big Sur that I use to send music by USB to my Peachtree amp. And a Late 2020 running Monterey that I use for work. I have about 700 gb of music files on an external drive, that I usually leave connected to my 2014 Mini. I'm trying to figure out the best way to sync music to my iPhone. If the music drive is connected to the 2014 Mini, I need to sync with the 2014 mini to sync the music. But then I can't sync with my 2020 Mini to sync all my other files and work stuff. Apparently, the iPHone cant sync with two computers. But, can I just bring my external drive and connect it to my 2020 mini in order to sync, and then put it back on the 2014? I'm a bit concerned to test this, because I don't want one of the computers to delete the external drive by accident.
  12. Why not just Music and the Apple remote on your phone? That's what I use.
  13. I just set up my music files on a late 2014 Mini running Mojave. The files are on an external drive. I plugged it in, and in iTunes, told it to add the files. (Not import.). It processed all the files and crested the .itl file. But many songs are in iTunes twice or even three times. There’s only one file, but the song name appears two or three times. I can highlight the extras and delete, but with over 10,000 songs, this will take forever. is there a way to delete all the duplicate song names(but not the actual files)? Or should I delete the .itl file and redo y the the process correctly?
  14. I currently use a 2020 Mac Mini as both my itunes server and home computer. I'm moving to a larger space, and my stereo will be in a different room from my home office, so I need a new media server My thought is to use an old 2014 Mini I retired last year when I upgraded to the new mini. Wipe all applications other than Music. A few questions: I think it's running Mac Catalina. Should I roll this back to an earlier operating system? Or does it matter? If I want to use it to stream to an Apple TV, do I just need it to be on the same wifi network? Thanks in advance.
