  1. Blake, "Staying on topic? Pot, kettle, black. Also, please carefully re-read the OP's post, then read Russ' reply. That my friend is an excellent example of "staying on topic". P.S. I personally have no problems with off-topic posts, like my post :)" I have no idea what you are talking about. I read both posts. Nothing wrong with the OP's. He's allowed to ask whatever he wants; its his post. I couldn't think of a worse way to go about picking a component. I read Flecko's post and agree 100%. That's just the way it goes. I would never buy a component without listening to it. Russ did a great job comparing the Mytek and the Benchmark DAC's. So what's the problem? Because if there's one thing I learned on this web site over the past few days, is there's always some silly problem. What is it?
  2. I've only been a member here for a few days. Most of my time spent here has been trying to figure out how to cancel my membership. Its all computer, no audiophile. I didn't think I would post anymore until I just read Fleco's post. Its the first one I've read where someone actually knows something about audio equipment, and is staying on topic. Every word is true.
  3. wgscott, Thanks for the reply. Just to be clear, none of my post was directed at you. It was mostly from reading some of the other threads. It looks like some of this "I can hear it - No you can't", has been going on for years. Not only that, it seems like no matter what the origional topic is, the discussion always seems to turn into the same argument regardless of what the thread started out as. I want to enjoy music, not argue about it. I just find the overall attitude here is very depressing. I don't want to get sucked in, thats all.
  4. I don't know if I was clear enough in my first post. I was able to get this DAC working in Windows 7 and 1 Linux distro (Arch Bang). That implies 3 things. 1. The DAC works. 2. It works in Linux. 3. Its most likely my fault that I can't get it to work with the other distros I normally use. I don't blame Bill Gates, Steve Jobs or even the kids in the basement. Its not their fault I can't get my DAC to work, its mine. Normally, I don't like to go off topic, but since nobody is talking about the AQ Dragonfly, I doubt anyone will care. I've been a member of this website for less than 24 hours. During this time, I've been reading many post in some of the other threads. I don't think I've ever seen such a negative and depressing web site; audio or otherwise. From what I can see, I don't think anyone here even enjoys listening to music. Its just non stop arguments that can go nowhere. Why? It makes absolutely no sense. I can't imagine that anyone will ever win on of these silly arguments. As far as my Dragonfly goes, I figured out how to fix the problem myself. It gets returned. If this is what computer audio is all about, you can have it. I'll stick with my CD player.
  5. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I just bought a Dragonfly and I'm having a lot of trouble getting sound out of it. I use linux for my OS and have tried several distros with no luck. (Magia 3 KDE, Mint KDE 15, Ubuntu Studio and Kubuntu). Aside from the distros I just listed, I was able to get it to work twice. First was under Windows 7. I hate Windows and want to avoid having to use it if possible. The second time it worked was with the Arch based live distro Arch Bang. If I have to, I'll use it over Windows but I would really like to use it with one of the above OS's in my list. I hope someone can point me in the right direction as to what I need to do to fix this issue. Thanks in advanced for any help.
