  1. To my ears there's an improvement too since the latest Roon update. I hear better defined leading edges and a wider and deeper soundstage, overall a more nimble and musical presentation. Nice! Cheers
  2. Indeed. Damage to the fuse is the main reason why I asked for experiences regarding best direction, so I can minimise the chance that I have to take it out and put it in again several times. I know that I can hear the difference but would like to avoid to have to do that. In what direction did you place the fuse?
  3. From the change log regarding this update: "2. Added lines to the startup and update dot animation, so the display will never turn black." Looks the same on my MU1 when starting up or updating.
  4. I agree @skatbelt I tried my MU1 with and without my Shunyata Denali. I preferred with. I only use my MU1 with my two EtherRegens, haven't tried the MU1 without them. So I can't comment on that part of your findings. Cheers
  5. For those of you who use a SR purple fuse in the MU1: in what direction did you put it in? It's a bit tricky to place the fuse in the fuseholder of the MU1, you need to squeeze it in. Any tricks to do so without damaging the fuse's mantle? Thanks!
  6. @The Computer Audiophile I'm using the MU1 with an Ayre QX-5 Twenty. It pushes the DAC to unsuspected heights, most notably with 16/44 files. Always 4fs, no convolution.
  7. Hi @AnAndGate I have a QX-5 and I'm very fond of it. Having said that, I'm very curious of how the Tambaqui would sound in my system and how it compares to the QX-5. I hope to audition the Tambaqui within two weeks in my own system and thus make a direct - albeit short - comparison. I'll report back here, but don't expect an in-depth review! If you come across any other comparison of the two I'd appreciate it if you'd post about it here ... I couldn't find one either! Cheers, Marc
  8. Hi @PYP Thanks. Christiaan Punter is has indeed reviewed positively the Tambaqui and the MU1 as well as the combination of the two. In fact there's more than one professional reviewer who evaluated the pairing of the Tambaqui with the MU1 favorabily. I'm especially interested in the first hand experiences of fellow audiophilestyle contributors. So so, if anyone has experience with both I would like to hear about it! Cheers, Marc
  9. Indeed a nice review, thanks for pointing that one out. Herb Reichert is (also!) quite taken by the Tambaqui: It adds to my (already high) curiosity. I'm going to audition the Tambaqui within the next few months. Do any of you use the Grimm MU1 with the Tambaqui? Any thoughts?
  10. In fact, I don't know ... 😃 It should have read: "... the involvement of Bruno with Grimm and Mola Mola"!
  11. Hi @FredM No, I don't have the Tambaqui, I have an Ayre QX-5 Twenty. The Tambaqui came up before in this thread, @haltermruses it with the MU1. That's why I thought the Stereophile review could be of interest here. And of course because of the involvement of Bruno with the MU1 and the Tambaqui. But I am interested, though, in what the Tambaqui would sound like in my system. I plan to audition one at home within a few months. I'm eager to find out if it's a significant step up from my (much appreciated and loved) QX-5 Which, by the way, is playing on another level when fed by the MU1. Really, I bought the MU1 on a whim, but it's turned out to be one of my best hifi-purchases over the last few years. As you said, thanks to Bruno, Guido, and of course Eelco, and all the other people at Grimm. Cheers
  12. In the same stereophile issue also a glowing review of the Mola Mola Tambaqui ... and kudos to Bruno Putzeys
