  1. Thanks for your reply. 1. I sent an email to [email protected] and have not yet received any response. My email is [email protected] 2. I understand that i. if no music is played, the top line of information will show the max sampling rate my unit supports, and ii. if music is played, it will show the sampling rate of my music. For this issue, I checked with Aurender's local dealer and was confirmed that this issue also happened with his unit (N200 I believe) with the new FW. Again, I don't mind this display error and can live with it. 3. For the screeching issue... I don't ask for any solution and my only request is to roll back the firmware. I'm perfectly content with the latest version before this "interface update". I have been using Aurender for a long time and the unit had perfect record with 0 serious issue... until this new terrible firmware (well at least might be for me). I will leave the unit on for tonight and whole day tomorrow... my only ask is for it to be rolled back to the last version before the interface update. Thanks
  2. Hi Anybody know how to roll back the firmware? This new firmware with fancy "Icons" clearly is a no go for me. I can live with the file type incorrectly reported (my previous post), but I recently encountered another more serious problem. From time to time (within 1/2 albums) the unit sent out screechy sound (like static high frequency overlaying the track), and this could be fixed by restarting the song or skipping the song. I isolated the problem and I'm sure that this is cause by this new terrible firmware. I sent a support request with detailed description but no reply yet. I really hate this new firmware and really want to go back to previous version as I'm perfectly happy with the old interface. Does anyone know how to roll back the firmware (e.g., to V 5.21.971)? Thanks
  3. Just to further add that actually this issue doesn't limit only to DSD, but with other file types as well. In summary, with this new firmware, the file type indication on the front panel is messed up! This is 24/96 file and here is what's shown on the screen. Again, fortunately, proper data was sent out of the unit, so playback seems to be unaffected (reported correctly as 24/96). Aurender, please fix this!
  4. Hi @AurenderAmerica, after I updated to the latest firmware, file type reading on my N100H seems to report differently. DSD files were no longer reported as "DSD" on the top (along with the connected device). Is this intentional? This is DSD128 file, and you can see it correctly reads "2XDSD and 5.6" on the bottom but up top, it reports "176.4Khz" which doesn't seem correct. However, my DDC and DAC seemed to receive correct audio signal, as DSD indications on DDC and DAC lit up, as well as "128" on DDC and 2X on DAC (indicate DSD 2X). Is it possible to correctly show DSD 128 / 256 / etc on top of the screen? Also my Conductor was setup correctly and Native DSD was turned on (never been off since I got the unit actually).
  5. The loaner PSU can also be adjusted to 12V and I tried to use it with my (black) unit. I don't think the brightness was reduced with the standard PSU (at 12V). To clarify, I do not use the MC port at all. It just comes pre-config with the unit I purchase (one that local distributor in my country had in stock). My switch has internal clock upgrade and the 75ohm clock input will never be used as I don't have external clock device. I understand that inside the switch the voltage can be changed, but I don't know if 12V is mandatory with the upgraded clock board.
  6. Hi guys, I have a question about the standard and upgraded versions of this Switch. Earlier this month, I borrowed the standard Switch + standard PSU from a local distributor to try, and after hearing a clear improvement, I ordered the fully upgraded versions (Switch + PSU), and based on the boxes the specs are as follows: - PSU: Silver DC Cable / SE-S / CAP / eABC - Switch: sCLK-EX / 12V / MC75 / SE-S / EVOX / eABS I received them earlier last week and when I replaced them with the loaner (standard), I was surprised that this upgraded version sounds brighter / harsher and not as full-bodied as the standard version. I stacked them and compared both with the same AC + LAN cables and the difference was very clear. Units with gold badges are loaner (standard version) and units with silver badges are mine (upgraded). I truly have no idea what might have caused this and below are my observation: - Is it because of the voltage? The standard version uses 9V but mine uses 12V. I understand that if the external clock is installed, 12V is required... is this correct? Would voltage affect how the unit sound? What will happen if I reduce my voltage setting behind the PSU from 12V to 9V? - Now mine have around 70-75 hours on them (both PSU and Switch) but still sound brighter than the loaner (that has countless hours on... possible thousands). How long would it take for the Switch / PSU to fully burn in? - Is it possible that all the silver upgrades/components inside the black unit cause it to be bright? Any suggestions or tips / settings I might try to make it sound more full would be appreciated! FYI, I made sure to recheck the voltage setting of the PSU and both units were setup correctly (standard version with 9V and upgraded with 12V). Thanks!
  7. Thanks for your honest view on this pairing. From what you said, it seems to me that the problem itself is from how the T2 handles digital signal in general (that you found it to perform better with 20b PCM and 256 DSD), and not specifically because of the fact that N20 pairs badly with the T2? However, N20, as great as it is, is not the streamer that focuses on upsampling and those kind of stuff (unlike Roon), so in your view, the T2 would sound better it is is paired with a streamer that can do the upsampling/sampling rate conversion. Is my above understanding correct? May you please elaborate more on how you arrived at the conclusion that the T2 works best with the 20bits PCM/ 256DSD? As T+ is practically the T2, I’m very interested to know more as it can help me get the most out of the unit. Thanks
  8. Thanks for the swift reply Ari. It's very assuring to hear that I can just simply swap the drive to the new unit and it will work. Also good to hear positive result from you about the Denafrips.
  9. @AurenderAmerica I have a question. Now I'm using the N100H which I upgraded the storage to 4TB SSD. If I move up the chain to N20, can I just remove the SSD in the N100H and put it in the N20's tray? Would this automatically work, or do I have to move my music elsewhere first, then format this SSD with the N20, and then move my library back? It would be great if I can just move the SSD from the N100H and throw it into the N20 without any reformatting. This next question is to everyone reading this thread. How big would the improvement be if I replace my N100H with the N20? Now my dac is Denafrips Terminator Plus with Hermes DDC. My concern is, although the Terminator Plus is a good dac, I know it's merely a Chinese product and not as high-end as something like dCS Rossini (or even Bartok), or anything made by MSB. I don't want to be in the situation where my dac is not good enough to appreciate the improvement in the source device. @The Computer Audiophile In your N20 review, you said the N20 matched particularly well with Schiit Yggdrasil and you seemed to like this combo very much. I also saw that you also paired the N20 with the Terminator 2. I couldn't find your details comment about the synergy of this pairing in the review and in comment section. Can you comment on this? Comparing with the Yggdrasil, how do you think the N20 fared with the Terminator 2? Was this pairing brighter than usual / or did it sound bright comparing with the Yggdrasil? I have no way to test the N20 with my setup and have to buy blind, so with its high price, it's better to find as much information as I can. Thanks
  10. Hi @AriMargolis I'm curious whether there is any way to "override" the name of the DAC connected with the unit? I paired my N100H with Ayre QB9 Twenty before and the name was displayed perfectly. Today, I changed (upgrade?) my DAC to Denafrips Terminator PLus, and the DAC is listed as "USB HiRes Audio". Audio files seemed to be played fine though. Is there any way to manually change it to "Denafrips Terminator Plus"? I'm fine if I have to edit some config files. Additionally, this DAC seems to be able to play up to DSD 1024 natively, but is it correct that the N100H can send only up to DSD 512 native? In the app, when I enabled Native DSD, it said it can go up to DSD 512, and the unit seems to play this file fine. However, is it normal to list as "Async 705.6 kHz" instead of "DSD512" when it played the file? Thanks
  11. Problem solved by updating the app in my iPad. Apologies for my inability to read the thread before posting. Hi... Like others, I also have problem connecting to Tidal ("Client not found" issue). I checked for any new firmware but found that my unit is currently on the most recent one. Have opened the remote assistance request, but as I live in the far side of the world (assuming the support is based in the US), the process is quite inconvenient. I can leave the unit on if the fix happens while I am sleeping, but I understand this assistance needs action on my end to allow access to the unit? Isn't it easier to release a patch that can be deployed to all affected unit via "software update"?
  12. Well, I wouldn't say that the change is minor. I can say with confidence that the new board sounds better, but can't quite quantify the extent, as it took quite a long time to burn in, and by the time the "Twenty" is fully broken in (past 350-ish hours mark), I forgot how the DSD version sounded. However, this review should give you a very good indication of the improvement, as side-by-side comparison was thoroughly made here:
  13. I used RCA+XLR simultaneously at one point, and this config worked fine. I didn't detect any sonic degradation. But since you've brought this up, I also want to check with Ryan. Ryan, by design/technically, would there be any sonic degradation if two outputs are used at the same time? i.e. do the XLR/RCA output share the same signal path, if so, connecting the DAC via 2 outputs at the same time should theoretically degrade the signal coming out of both outputs, as oppose to only one (RCA or XLR) connection?
  14. Don't worry, based on my post you have quoted, I upgraded to QB9 Twenty and it worked with my N100H without any problem. Everything is perfect. Sleep function also worked fine (DAC went to sleep once no track played, and woke up once I played the track). N100H is basically similar to N100C so I don't think you'll run into any problem. This may be your best upgrade/purchase ever! Then please don't hesitate!
  15. A10 is definitely Aurender's product, mate. It's different model but use the same OS and works the same way. This happened already in the past and Ari and his team managed to fix this quite quickly.
