  1. If that happened it's unacceptable but I must say that I've always found their customer support to be quite good. Perhaps this whole website "upgrade" is fraying everyones nerves. I am taking a HD Track download vacation until it's all worked out...I can live without new downloads for a week or two while this all gets worked out. Why give myself a headache dealing with all of these problems?
  2. I wonder where what the source of The Band downloads are? It would be incredible if they came from the Mofi SACDs but I have my doubts that would happen without some sort of announcement that Mofi were in the download game (even if not directly and they were sold through a different site).
  3. Correct...when I compared the file sizes of the low bitrate files there was no appreciable difference from the other tracks on the albums.
  4. Ok I did as you suggested on 2 of the tracks and these were the results: Hank Mobley (No Room For Squares) - No Room For Squares: Original ALAC: 864kbps Original ALAC Conversion to AIFF: 4608kbps AIFF Conversion to New ALAC: 3165kbps Phish (Junta) - Ester: Original ALAC: 536kbps Original ALAC Conversion to AIFF: 4608kbps AIFF Conversion to New ALAC: 3057kbps I have no idea what this means...I'm confused! So is this new ALAC a 'better' file than the original or is it the same but the bit rate info is correct this time?
  5. I emailed HD Tracks about it and this is what I rec'd: Please note that all of our titles are checked for proper 24 bit rate and khz freq drop off at the appropriate cut off. The kbps WILL vary for every song and change for each codec there is, but a low kbps does not indicate the file is not 24 bit or 96 khz. Every song has different musical information in it and not necessarily have a lot of ultra high frequency information so the kbps will differ track to track KHz measures the sampling frequency in kilo-hertz - that is it indicated the number of thousands of samples per second which make up the sound file kbps is actually a measure of data transfer rate - it means kilo bits per second, i.e. the number of thousands of bits transferred per second. I hope this information helps. I understand what he's saying but I just don't believe a 24/96 ALAC HD file of a song would have lower bit rates than redbook ripsof the same song.
  6. Thanks for checking the CD rips. I used itunes to get the bitrates.
  7. Hi all...long time lurker first time poster. I feel like I've just called into a radio station with that line!! I am hoping someone can help me out/shed some light on an issue I've found with a few of my HD Tracks downloads. They were downloaded as ALAC 96/24 files. A few of the songs (never the whole album) have extremely low bit rates for 96/24 HD files...here are a few examples: Phish (Junta) - Ester: 536kbps The Doors (Complete Waiting For The Sun) - Wintertime Love: 470kbps Eric Dolphy (Out To Lunch) - Straight Up & Down: 208kbps Hank Mobley (No Room For Squares) - No Room For Squares: 864kbps Does anyone have the same 96/24 ALACs and can confirm they have the same bit rates? That way I can rule out that there's an issue with my specific files. And if others have the same kbps on those tracks does anyone have any thoughts why this would happen?
