Jack of All Trades - Master of None
  1. I'm using a Lenovo TFF (Tiny Form Factor) PC that basically looks like that, but with an Intel i5 Processor. So my PC isn't the problem, I just need to figure out the best way to get HQPlayer to stream to my DirectStream DAC
  2. Well it crashes during Network Naming - I'm still learning HQPlayer - but so far I can't do anything with it network wise. So now I guess I'm going to figure out how to get it to work via USB directly to my DirectStream. Or, I guess HQPlayer works with Roon which I'm signed up for through September to see if I like it - but the DirectStream doesn't support DSD128 via network - so direct via USB sounds like it's probably in my future. I hope I'm not confusing things - I've used Foobar for years, and Roon made me lazy because it's so easy!
  3. Thanks for that - I was a beta tester for the Bridge II so I sent them an E-mail saying "Hey! we could use some HQPlayer support!" I guess I'll just have to put off HQPlayer for now, or break down and try it locally via USB, which I was trying to avoid, but I guess I'm back to it now. LOL
  4. That's just it, it the NAA Discovery crashes before anything shows up. I thought maybe I needed to install something or I missed a setting.
  5. I've only spent a few minutes with the Demo of HQPlayer - I've been super busy with work, which means I was also a bit tired. But I couldn't get it to find my PS Audio DirectStream over the network. I skimmed through the directions (and like I said, was tired) so maybe I missed it, but the network tool crashes as soon as I fire it up. Is there a driver or add on I need to install? Windows 10 Pro - Fresh Install all current. (dedicated system) Wired network connection. PS Audio DirectStream with the Bridge II (wired obviously) When I have time I'll really sit down and properly read through the directions, I'm sure I just missed something, but thought I'd ping the group, see if anyone else has a setup like mine and can offer suggestions so I know what to look for next time I have time to sit down and work on this. Hopefully my trial won't expire by the time I find time to work on this! LOL I do have Roon, just not installed on this device as I want to check out and explore HQPlayer on it own before I integrate it with Room (aka easy mode? LOL) Thanks in advance. ~Eric~ AKA The Lonely Raven (in various forums)
  6. That's perfect, thanks! I have a PS Audio DirectStream and I was a beta tester for the Bridge II - Roon was just so easy to get into. I'll be giving HQP a try next. Thank you again!
  7. Hey Eric, what are you using to convert to DSD256? I've been using Foobar2000 on an Audiophile Optimizer tweaked Windows 2012 server, but I've recently switched to trying out Roon just for ease of setup and use. I'm just looking for what options are out there in conversion/playback software. Much Thanks!
  8. I'd be in on it. I just couldn't swing $500. I was also disappointed to find that as a 1 year subscription member, I couldn't prorate that into a Lifetime.
  9. I just received shipping notice on my Regen. I guess it's time to finally wade through this long thread and see what you guys are doing to make the most of this little device. I too am running a PS Audio DirectStream - source is a tiny form factor PC with Foobar2000 in 2012 Server CORE mode. I guess I should have bought some Jitterbugs when I saw them in stock. I wasn't sure I needed them with this Regen, but I see you guys are stacking and stacking?
  10. Thanks for the guidance gents. I guess I'll just get in line, and start reading comments. LOL
  11. I just heard about this USB Regen today, and I'm starting my research on it. I see it's a resonable $175, but it looks like it's on backorder for 4-6 weeks? Any used ones or other sources where I can pick one up to try out?
  12. Phil, I've been running AO for a while now - I still have some things to sort out, but it's mostly with Foobar2000. For the most part, Server 2012, AO, and Foobar has been rock solid and does what I need (playback pit-perfect). So I've not really explored settings or features and whatnot - but I hope to find time to do so. Anywho - I have friends who are struggling with MACs - they have trouble keeping things bit-perfect with the various software they use. I'd like to build a second Server 2012, AO, Foobar2000 machine and loan it to them to see if they like this setup better *with their gear*. Will the AO software get upset if it sees that it's being run at a different IP address than the one I registered it on? Thanks in Advance!
  13. That's awesome to hear. Fair Warning is one of my all time favorite albums. And the HDTrack debacle really turned me off of HD.
  14. Phil, I'm trying out a laptop in place of the Lenovo Mini-PC to see if battery powered laptop helps with SQ. I've installed and setup Server 2012 R2 Eval, Setup WiFi, followed your directions, fired up AO to get my hardware code, then to the web page to get my key - and then AO blinks this error "The system cannot find the path specified". I've restarted and tried a few times, re-read the guide and I just don't see what I missed. I've been up for like 26 hours now, so I'm probably just overtired and missing something simple. Any suggestions as to what I should be correcting? This is my second install, the first one went really smoothly - so I'm sure it's just something I missed. Thanks in advance!
