Got my PS3 in the mail today with a 2.xx firmware, upgraded to 3.55 OFW, got the 3.55.4 REBUG CFW available here:
LATEST REBUG FIRMWARE – UPDATED AUG. 2ND 2013 | Codename: REBUG
Installed that, then downloaded a prebuilt PS3 toolchain for Ubuntu, dropped it in place, got the sacd-ripper repository, built it (don't forget to build lib/libiconv first!), then dropped the pkg in the PS3 and installed it. It seems to run! Now I just need to bring some of my SACDs home from work tomorrow!
Thanks to all of you who've helped with this project. I'm really glad the community is handling this limitation imposed by Sony on their customers. It's unacceptable that someone who purchases an SACD isn't able to exercise fair use by backing it up in case it's destroyed.
