  1. The extender allows me to go from USB to an Ethernet connection so I can't go direct except for short distances. I did have another 50' run of Cat 6 cable lying around and tried it in between my PC and desktop DAC and loudspeakers with the same result. To me it looks like the extenders just aren't doing the job.
  2. I forgot to mention that I'm running Windows Vista.
  3. I recently installed a 50' run of cat 6 cable to stream music from my PC to my Benchmark DAC1 HDR's USB Input. I am using a USB Extender on each end due to the long run. When I click on a music file to play I get the following message: "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct." Any idea as to what the issue is? Thanks.
  4. I just purchased and set-up a Pro-Ject USB Box. The input is connected to my computer USB port and the output is connected to a NHT Passive Vol Control. This in turn is connected to NHT-MOO monitors. When I purchased the Pro-Ject and NHT PVC my expectation was that my internal soundcard and computer software volume control would be bypassed. My understanding was that this results in greater resolution. However, my system volume control is still active. I'm new to all this and am not sure if this is how it is supposed to work or not. The Pro-Ject didn't come with a manual. It did come with a set-up disc , but all it did was install Foobar 2000. Any advice would be appreciated.
