  1. Many do tidal, the new Lampi streamer is Roon only on Linux, and some use HQP. It should not matter, the 512 engine is just better
  2. Guys many of us own the GG and in my friend circle we unilaterally prefer the DSD from the 512 engine (even if it's DSD 64) to the regular engine. That includes with Auralic, PC with HQP, or with the new Lampi super computer which one of us has. In some cases people prefer the 256 to the 512 in the same engine but that's due to their Upsampler restrictions. So it's worth the price, yes
  3. Hi yes, especially because the DSD 512 engine sounds better than the other engine even in dsd 64
  4. I owned a L5. In those days the B7 had just been released, and came with cheap 2A3 valves. But even on that, the differences ok complex music (acoustic classical) were night and day. Since then, the B7 had only improved, and collectively all of us know of much better valves we can use to make the sound much better. For me it's a no brainer. The B7 is a very different design from the earlier designs, as it is a direct heated triode dac. There are other dacs I have heard better than the level 5 or the big 6 (though much more expensive), but none better than the B7 apart from the GG, even uber priced dacs and CDPs. That jump to B7 is a small price to pay for a jump over all other dacs
  5. Hi Greg of Gpoint audio who is the UK distri had it picked up from my place, the whole thing, don't remember correctly, but was 500 quid I think. Could be wrong
  6. There might be other dacs between B7 and Lite 7. B7 is next only to GG. That is the difference.
  7. Well, you can buy the b7, and be done not requiring upgrades to 100k Euro dacs
  8. OMG - Both reiner Scherazade and Pictures have been my staple auditions - good to have them in this quality
  9. oppo with spdif into the dac, and Mac with USB into the dac, playing a file ripped off the same CD.
  10. We compared Oppo 105 and a noisy mac air into the Lampizator as a transport, the noisy mac air performed better (with HQPlayer on it).
  11. Ok so from your first point, I can use either ECC or PPA RAM with Supermicro X10SLH-F. On the second point, I had it wrong initially. So I can use PPA pico, Teradak full ATX, or HDP dc-ATX. The latter two instead of a pico. What does the Pang dc converter do and where do you use it?
  12. So why do you call this redundant, Brian, what software did you use and what power supply? Also, there are conflicting reports about more RAM being good
  13. Does it work with supermicro, will be interesting to know if PPA or Apacer is better. Also has anyone used PPA Pico psu, it seems to be a normal Pico but sends 5v to OS SsD, I guess a cheaper alternative to using the Pico listed by Chris and using Jcat battery for SSD
  14. So why not use PPA RAM, as I heard it's good? Or is it compatible only with his mobo
  15. I thought Apacer was better than crucial. Is the latter industrial?
