  1. Peachtree iDac works in integer over coax from my VLink 192.
  2. I would agree. I was thinking of it as a lateral move sonically, but the ability to accept all sample rates up to 24/192 is a huge upgrade logistically. And obviously I'm nowhere near as educated on this stuff as many on the forum--I'm only speaking on this because my set up is similar, using the V-Link 192 to feed my Peachtree iDac. (Which you can get for $400-$600 on eBay and compares favorably to the Rega.)
  3. If you don't upsample at all, then Audirvana will automatically change the sample rate to the native rate for each recording. If you want to make sure that your system never tries to play a sample rate your DAC can't handle, then force upsampling to 24/96 or 24/192 depending on what your DAC can handle. Everything you're adjusting will be in the Audirvana preferences. You should not ever need to go into your AudioMidi settings--Audirvana is managing all that for you whether you are upsampling or not. For what it's worth, I would think of this as a short term solution. In the long run, not playing 176.4 would be a deal breaker for me, since you can get a Bitfrost or Peachtree iDac (in the same ballpark as the Rega, right?) for such a reasonable price.
  4. In the meantime, if you set upsampling in Audirvana to upsample everything to 24/192, that might serve as a short term solution until you can get the Rega accept all sample rates.
  5. I would assume this is most likely your solution.
  6. Your iPod is only going to play up to 16/44, I believe.
  7. Since I started this thread with my crashing issue, I just want to say that after I reinstalled Audirvana I have had absolutely no problems, or at least no more issues than I have with any piece of software. I am so incredibly happy with Audirvana and can't imagine listening to music without it. I feel like I've gotten my money's worth just from playing with the Izotope SRC settings and the 31 band EQ. If you're on the fence and your system can handle Audirvana, I think it's a great investment, comparable to adding a whole new component to your system. You get a lot for the money--I love it!
  8. It says it can in the product description, I didn't get a chance to download it yet so I can't speak from experience.
  9. Oh, I have no idea what "the best" is, I just think people tend to say something is "the best" without really having studied what all is out there, so I wanted to qualify my endorsement. But for me this was clearly the best solution--I already had many Seagate USB 3.0 drives that were compatible with the adapter, and a new drive and adapter were something like half the cost of the WD 2x2TB Thunderbolt drive I had been looking at.
  10. Just want to add that I'm using this same adapter with a 4tb and 3tb backup plus, and I am very happy with the performance. Absolutely silent and faster than USB 3.0, even with multiple drives daisy chained together. So while I can't say this is "the best" option, I can definitely say that it's working very well for me. (Plus I saved enough money doing it this way to buy a couple extra 3tb drives to use as backups.)
  11. This looks really interesting, I'm downloading the demo tonight and I'll let you know what I think after I play around a little.
  12. I can't explain it, but I select "include pre-gap" and have no issues with gapless playback.
  13. This. While I never had any problems like you are describing when I used iTunes, there's just not much reason I can think of to use iTunes for ripping when XLD is available and free.
  14. I was playing with this last night. Once you get it set where you want it, I think it's important to turn the real time adjustments back off so it's not processing the EQ in real time. I love making very subtle EQ adjustments, never taking anything above 0db and never dropping anything below about 1.5db. At least that's my current theory, I change my opinion every couple days regarding EQ.
  15. I know I have two different folders named Applications, so make sure you're in the right one. And like dreamchung said, you can just use the search bar in Finder and that should do it.
