  1. I love mine and got two Atlas Mavros BNC-BNC cable to use between it and the Qutest. I use a CAD usb cable from my Melco N1Z. Next I want to try a Jcat XE Ethernet card feeding the Melco.
  2. I have one of these "Computer Audiophile Pocket Server C.A.P.S. v3 Carbon" servers that has served me well for years. Solid! I was thinking of upgrading it to run the new jCat card. Can anyone suggest a faster motherboard I can use that would be plug and play maybe accept for reloading the operating system? No fans/moving parts or bars that attach to the case for heat distribution. 12V so I can use my HDPllex I currently use for a Sonictransporter I7.
  3. Ayre QB9 Twenty was wonderful with my full Ayre system but went back to Chord. This time a Qutest with my Supernait 2. I probably owned a 2Qute 5 times. Guess you have to hit me over the head for me to know a good thing. Powering my Qutest with a Uptone LPS-V1 to perfection. I liked my cell phone's battery pack better the the stock PSU so went for something as close as I could get to a battery, another ultra cap like my Uptone LPS-V1.2 powering my ultraRendu. AQVOX switch was also a huge upgrade! Was tempted to go tubes but so happy with my system right. Finally updated my signature. Hope it shows up.
  4. I’m starting to truly like the QB-9 Twenty. Guess I’m over 300 hours now. It’s now on a 5i and on Friday, it will be on an SN2. Sunday I’ll compare it to a Chord Dave so fun times ahead. La Voce S3 has been sold and the girlfriend is pretty sad it. She loved how it was so natural and romantic. I like how alive the Ayre is coming along and think it is actually working out very well with the Naim. It’s still got that PRAT that I’ve missed being away from Naim and maybe it can work instead of a Chord. Loved the 2Qute in the past with my last SN2. My cousin bought my AX-5 Twenty.
  5. Sweet. Okay. Synergistic Research Orange fuse and more hours added to the list. Thanks guys Oh, liked my Chord Signature Tuned Aray USB cable much more over the Audioquest Diamond with the Ayre.
  6. That’s my next step, compare an opticalRendu to my ultraRendu. Maybe also an audiophile grade switch for my NAS and media server. Soon I will also be trying the QB-9 Twenty on a Supernait 2 as it seems great on a Nait 5i. Would like to also bring a Chord Qutest and Dave into the mix.
  7. I let the QB-9 Twenty break in for 200-300 hours and it really did get more organic, not as much as the La Voce but started to sound extremely nice on the AX-5 Twenty. Would say punchier, more dynamic and more resolution without being bright when compared to the La Voce. The La Voce still has this magic in the midrange and timbre is impeccable. Think with the right equipment, each is a winner. Anyone here pair a QB-9 with Naim and have good results? I need to figure out how to change my signature on this site as the system has changed completely.
  8. I get mine Thursday and super excited. It’s up against an Aqua La Voce S3.
  9. I mainly compared hd pcm between the Naim DAC-V1 and the Mytek 192. Believe me, I wanted the Mytek to win as I didn't want to convert all my dsd files to pcm since the DAC-V1 can't decode dsd. My Mytek shipped yesterday and I didn't to any kind of intense dsd to pcm comparisons but I do believe the DAC-V1's jriver converted dsd/pcm files beat the Mytek's dsd bit streamed files because it is an overall better dac. Has the Audiophilio technology built in, better power supply, etc. When a dac comes out that I can afford, isn't crazy money that can do both pcm and jriver/dsd better then the DAC-V1, I'll buy it. Before the Mytek, I had an Oppo 105 but had the version that couldn't do dsd over USB. I didn't have the Oppo at the same time as the Mytek.
  10. I started to convert 300 GB of DSD (.DSF) files to PCM but then saw Jriver could convert on the fly. All I had to do was uncheck the bit-stream DSD checkbox. To me, the 24/384 PCM files coming out of my Naim DAC-V1 (SOtM) and Jriver sound better then the myTek native DSD files (firewire). Please note that I made a lot of hardware changes along the way so this is a fairly subjective opinion.
  11. Oh. Melody Gardot via vinyl sounded sublime over the Mytek in analog mode. I'm finally happy! Another opinion, DSD is sounding as good as vinyl. Thank you ted_b!
  12. I've had the Mytek 192 for 3 days. I started loving it last night after I hooked it up via firewire. My gut tells me that very few DACs have gotten USB right. Concero is one of those. Then you still have the dirty power issue to deal with unless you get an iFi USB and/or build out a CAPs server with a SOtM USB card and a battery system (2k). I am astounded how well my PCM and DSD tracks are sounding right now. Listen up other DAC manufactures. Firewire! Haven't built my CAPs server yet but noticed my PC had a firewire port and I actually had a cable so hooked it up. Sooooo much better then USB. Did I already say that? My opinion is that unless you are going to get a Audiophilleo 2 with PurePower 2 or go the SOtM/battery route, using firewire is a must if you go Mytek. Oh. FYI. Couldn't get Jriver 17 to work WASAPI event DSD via firewire. It worked via USB so that was strange. Installed Jriver 19 beta and everything worked perfectly, better then version 18. I also think WASAPI event is playing my PCM and DSD over PCM (DoP) better then ASIO. PCM files always sounded better WASAPI and now I don't have to switch when going to DSD. Thank you Jriver and Mytek!
  13. Very cool setup TNE. I lived in Kennedy Town on the Western part of Hong Kong island. That view reminded me of my times there. The Concero is so good. I would keep it if didn't just get into all the vinyl madness. Just bought a myTek 192 Pre and hope it performs as well. If I was digital only, would think the Concero HD and Foobar's volume control would be perfect in that it wouldn't degrade the sound quality. FYI, I just ripped my first SACD and WOW! It took me all day yesterday to figure out how but it was worth it! Nat King Cole was in my room.
  14. Glad you were able to get those A7Xs back in one piece TNE, I'm now in the same boat as you. Decided on some active speakers (Dynaudio 110As). My only problem is that I need an Analog input for a phono amp. Really don't want to spend the 4k on the Invicta to get a volume know.
  15. Hi TNE. I have not tried any other sources for power other then USB. I don't see an input for a power source. I'll report on the iFi USBpower and the Gemini cable once I get them and I have a chance to listen. There must be a big back log. It seems strange that pulling the power out then putting in clean power just to put it back in the same connection but hey, its worth a listen. I've read nothing but good things about the combo and it sure beats putting together a CAPs server and spending another 1000 on a battery system to power the thing. Oh, here is some my latest DSD and PCM findings:Hi Dustin, I discovered is that Foobar running the asio output plugin (foo out asio) and the SACD decoder plugin sounds much better then the Jriver alternative (must pick the DSD over PCM DoP option in jriver, not the DSD option). My issue is that WASAPI and kernal streaming sound superior for non DSD files. Since Foobar plays the DSD files better, I'll have to just swap between WASAPI and asio. The pain was I loose the Wasapi option every time I RDP into my Windows 7 media server. Real VNC server and android VNC solved that dellima. What a pain to switch every time I play DSD files but until I can figure out a better playing alternative. Can't wait to try more DSD files. WOW! I'm in the symphony hall. The Concero rocks!
