  1. Here are the current SSD drives I use in my system. One is used to house my Music Library. The others are a Time Machine backup on my MacBook and Music Library and three SSD drives used with Carbon Copy Cloner, two for Music Library backups and one for my MacBook backup. Below are the capacities of each drive, how much is currently used and how much capacity is left along with a percentage of capacity left. SSD CAPACITIES Size - Used - Available - Percentage Remaining MASTER MUSIC LIBRARY 2TB - 1.45TB - 547.2GB - 27.36% TIME MACHINE 2TB - 1.9TB - 73.11GB - 3.66% CCC MB PRO 1TB - 804.54GB - 191.03GB - 19.10% CCC MUSIC MASTER 2TB - 1.31TB - 681.97GB - 34.10% CCC MUSIC SECONDARY 2TB - 1.46TB - 537.07GB - 26.85% Is there any rule or rule of thumb for upgrading to a larger SSD when a certain capacity is met or exceeded?
  2. I'm thinking in regards to the SSD I use to house my digital files. All the files are necessary and will only continue to grow. My files are lossless so take up much less room than non-compressed files (WAV, AIFF). I am only currently using 1.2GB of a 2GB SSD so I am good for now but wondered at which point I should make a change to a larger SSD.
  3. I'm curious about this in terms of how much percentage of an external drive should be used before replacing with a bigger drive? 75%? 90%?
  4. Even though I run a digital library and it is so easy to check on what I have or don't have I have on a couple of occasions still ended up buying a title or version I already have of a CD to rip to file. There is nothing worse that realizing how stupid you can be for a particular moment...
  5. I have had great success with G-Technoloy G-Drives SSD. My first is several years old. I now have 5.
  6. I do a weekly backup because I add music almost always on a weekly basis. That is to my primary backup. I have two secondary backups that I do on a monthly basis or sooner if I have added a lot of files in a short period of time...
  7. All is REALLY quiet on the western front. No experience or opinion of these in comparison to others?
  8. I have been using G-Technology 1TB and 2TB SSD G-Drives for several years now and without issue. I've looked into others but these have been so solid and consistent for me I am hesitant to change. They give me no reason to change.
  9. When I search all I see is what is in my Apple (iTunes) library
  10. I have been using the G-Technology G-Drive Mobile SSD 2TB and 1TB drives for several years with my MacBook Pro. One 2TB houses my music library, one 2TB is a Time Machine Back Up of both my MacBook and my Music Library. I have three others, two 2TB which are Carbon Copy Cloner backups of the Music Library and a 1TB which is a CCC backup of my MacBook. Honestly, I have been quite satisfied and have not had any issues. The only change I made was to take the newest 2TB and make that the Music Library and switched the oldest 2TB into a Music Library CCC backup. I am only curious of others experience with the G-Technology G-Drive Mobile SSDs and comparison to other brands. Any preferences for performance or other advantages for other brands other than price? Thanks
  11. Unless I am missing the point you may not be able to remove Apple Music from Music but you can at least hide it so you don't see it. Music Preferences>General>Show uncheck Apple Music and any of the other available options you may not wish to see.
  12. I got excited for a minute when I saw the thread title. Oh well.
  13. For myself I have 5 G-Technology 2TB Portable SSDs. One houses my library from which I play music via Roon or iTunes/Music. The other four are a Time Machine backup of my library and MacBook which I do weekly. Then I use Carbon Copy Cloner for three other backups. The first is a backup of my MacBook, the second a back up to my Music Library and the third is a segmented drive for both the MacBook and the Music Library. I do these monthly unless I have has any OS update or added a lot of titles to my Music Library then I will do them more frequently.
