Please pardon this "newbie" question but I have not been able to find a definitive answer and I would like to tap the collective wisdom of this forum:
a. In my first step, I now have a choice using XLD (which I did not have using EAC) to rip a 16/44.1 CD to make an exact copy (16/44.1) or rip to 32 bits floating point (32/44.1) for further upsampling
b. The next step in my process is to upsample the files to 24/96 or 24/192 (I use r8brainpro)
c. Resultant files are played back on computer (Audirvana Plus)
Have read seemingly conflicting advice between "make an exact copy" and "work at the highest resolution possible in intermediate steps", so my question is:
Has anyone a recommendation between the alternatives in (a) in the context of my setup?
I have done a test A/B comparison and they DO sound different, and my personal preference is not always towards one alternative, so I would like to collect some views.....
