I also use mac mini headless and a macbook to control it. With Jriver you can use library server and client, so the macbook (client) acts as an interface to control Jriver on the mini (server).

Well, it works for me; I can play 24/96 on my ipad via home sharing. It's my understanding that homesharing streams the original music file. There is an article on innerfidelity discussing this; do a search for "audiophile play ipad".

I don't know if it's any help to you, but I made a script in Automator to close all Finder windows and added the script as last in the login items.

I have tried Splashtop and it made the cpu usage on my music server go way up, that's something I do not like! But I guess personal preference also comes into play here.

Yes, running it on mac mini 2009 with windows 7 pro in bootcamp. Very happy with it soundwise and realy like the jremote app on the ipad!!! I would say try & hear for yourself.

I had the same problem and solved it by using the DelayedLauncher tool.
