  1. thanks for responding. is here any way, then, to reduce output without compromising quality? this obviously isn't an option for USB, but for the RCA output, would a line attenuator compromise audio quality? eg: Amazon.com : Harrison Labs 12 dB RCA Line Level Attenuator Pair : Electronics or are there any other ways? cheers L
  2. Hello. Signed up to ask a quick question that googling didn't help with. Windows taskbar volume controls - is there any downside to reducing this to less than 100%? I have a new Peachtree Nova 125 with my also-new B&W PM1's - my small computer room is more than filled by moving the volume dial only a tiny bit. It makes volume control fairly challenging. But if I, for example, put the Windows volume control to 50%...when I adjust the amp volume to be the equivalent of roughly the same volume as I had as my baseline before reducing the Windows volume (unscientific - no SPL meter) the output seems to lack punch and fullness. Psychosomatic? Actual? ie, PC volume = 100%, amp volume dial = 8 o'clock vs PC volume = 20%, amp volume dial = 11 o'clock am I losing anything in the latter scenario? downsides? the latter gives me adequate volume control. the former seems to sound better, but i'm open to reassurance that it's all in my head cheers L
