  1. Listening to the trial right now and the thing sounds amazing. less grain than all the other media players Ive tried on windows with my ifi nano idsd BL but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE support Album art from files in the folder on the library window. I can only see art from embedded files in the window and the mini mode of the player and small thimbnail at the bottom. Nothing on the library from these files that are not embedded with the art. It takes too much space to embed every single song with album art when I like my art high quality (at least 800x800). EDIT: The art issue is the only thing keeping me from buying it right now.
  2. That depends on the ASIO driver whether there is a 24 bit setting. On my Ifi nano IDSD Black label, there is no bitdepth option and it gives that message when upsampling PCM to native DSD over ASIO. It may be due to the 16 bit input bitstreaming. Playing DSD over DoP doesn't display that message.
  3. New Jremote issue with new IOS 10.3. streaming 16/44 flac files are insanely slow!!! This is from pc to iphone 5s via wifi. One song only buffers a few seconds ahead so its hard to fast forward. wow what happened to the new IOS filesystem? Is there a fix in the works for this or do I go back to older IOS?
  4. Is this distro still being developed? To the people that have been using it for a while, Is it still working smoothly?
  5. Ill give an example here... a grado headphone when driven from a high output impedance receiver will sound very similar balancewise compared to being driven by an ipad. A Sennheiser HD555 however will sound bloated out of that same receiver vs an ipad just because the headphones impedance goes up to about 300 ohms at 100hz while is only about 50 ohms at other frequencies in the spectrum.
  6. Its not always the low frequencies that get affected by the output impedance. It depends on where the big impedance peaks are on a particular headphone.
  7. For the computer I am streaming to the ipad, It is 99% ogg vorbis ripped from CDs then 1% mp3 and aac. So if it streams ogg without transcoding, I am happy. Thanks!
  8. By the way, I just saw this one here.... "Streaming media JRemote lets you stream all your media to the device itself. Just select This device as the current zone. Audio files are streamed in selectable quality ranging from 128kbbs to 320kbps mp3. Video files are limited to files using MPEG-4 encoding." So is this true even for the latest version of Jremote? All audio will be transcoded to mp3??? I made my files into 200kbps oggs so that they could stream easily vs flac but if it gets transcoded to mp3 again from the ogg file then that will be no good. This is the last thing that is keeping me from buying this app. All I really want it for is for streaming all my music on the pc to the ipad without transcoding if that is possible.
  9. ^^ Yes, which is why I mentioned the momentum's for the travelling purpose. He could get both It won't be much more than $500 for both.
  10. The hd650 recommendation in the poll is nuts. Unamped, the hd650 isn't very good. Also, don't expect to be able to hear much out of them when used in a plane. My recommendation for good cans for unamped use in that pricerange would be the sennheiser HD598 but if you need isolation at the same time then I would get the momentum's.
  11. Beautiful Review! By the way, can you just use the soundstage emulation of a speaker setup then eliminate the equalization for simulating those speakers?
  12. Damn, you guys are busy! By the way, are there any hardcopy versions of your software available? (Box/Manual and all)
  13. Get some hd600s again. The newer versions released around 2007 and up sound better and more lively than the older ones. They are one of the most neutral sounding headphones you can buy even today and they hit your budget perfectly. And yes get an amp for them. The cheapest I would pair them with is the schiit stack (magni amp and modi dac) or no dac if you already have one. The dac and amp cost $99 each
  14. Get the Gizmo app and get J River Media center on your PC. You should be streaming from PC to Tablet after that
