  1. I have a Aries and Vega running to a Anthem AVM60. I run the Vega in bypass mode on the AVM60 but was wondering if there were any software room correction programs that I could copy ARC's calibration into and not add another conversion into the loop?
  2. I'm not sure if you get it with a return window you could always try it out. There are reviews that prefer the usb output on the Aries
  3. I have Aries and Vega streaming off a NFS share on my MacBook Pro. I'm having trouble getting DFF files to play. I've successfully played DSF files at dsd64 at 5.6448mbps so it's not a problem with speed or DOP over PCM. When I play DFF files the lightning app selects the file the Aries shows 0/8 for the track and the counter is at zero. The track shows as selected at the bottom of the lighting app but it won't start. The Vega also displays 176.4ks but not dsd64
  4. With the settings mentioned above for Jriver during normal playback it does look like it fixes the issue. However when playing from a playlist if you jump from a 16/44 to a DSD by selecting the track on a IOS remote before the end of the last song is seems to bypass the delays and I did have one instance of waterfall last night.
  5. I had moved on to Audiovana and had not experienced the problem since although I can only reliably use the fine clock setting and not exact. I Will try the settings for Jriver and see how it works out. In regards to the tweeters not sure now they were blown. The next day the crackling seemed to not be repeatable on the same tracks that had exhibited the tweeter issues. Since then I have experienced the issue with one track that I will try and reproduce tonight. Just not sure what would be causing it if its not the tweeters. I removed the Jolida preamp and have been running the Vega as the preamp to simplify the chain. I am currently using a I7 four core Macbook Pro with 16gb of Ram but still using exact mode is hit or miss. I have read a guide for optimizing the MAC here and have performed all the suggested tweaks except turning off spotlight from the terminal. If anyone has suggestions or could recommend another post for optimizing my setup it would be appreciated and thank you all posters for the help with the Sync issue.
  6. I was able to reproduce the hiss once at lunch but there was no rhyme or reason. It did not repeat itself on the same track. Not much help.
  7. So there is no way this could be Jriver or the Mac then correct? The Vega or the amp are the most logical culprits. Currently my system looks like this Mac Book Pro 2011 - JRiver MC 18 all default settings except output set to DOP Auralic Vega (volume set at 100 - clock exact) Jolida Fusion - Rolled Black Plate Tubes (one channel has some very faint snowy static maybe bad old stock tube) Odyssey Kismet 2 channel amp. How might someone like me with a basic electronics knowledge go about tracking down the reason for the distortion? I played the same music that was popping and crackling last night this afternoon and could not reproduce the sound. It seemed to be more prevalent in poor recordings like the Ozzy Osbourne Randy Roads Tribute Album and also The Kinks Lola.
  8. I have not been able to reproduce the crackling on the certain tracks that was evident yesterday. What could cause distortion in the tweeters if not damage the amp? I just don't now how to proceed so many different parts involved. The amp did not seem to be putting out any large amount of heat. Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot this problem would be appreciated.
  9. Matt I have not been able to reproduce this issue. Looks like this is going to be a fun one for me
  10. You are correct Matt I'm using MC18 but new to DSD so didn't realize this was the only way with Mac to stream DSD. I can't be one hundred percent but when I first sent DSD JRiver was on default settings and I was seeing a PCM Sample rate on the Vega. The music sounded fine though. I then went into Jriver following the wiki and set the kernel streaming to DOP and restarted the same song. This was the first time I had the Burst of white noise.
  11. Well I'm using the USB cable that was included with the Auralic Vega I will look into its quality.
  12. I will try and reproduce at lunch. Is there a post or guide that walks you through the set up of streaming native DSD with the ASIO drivers? I would like to determine if this issue is associated with DSD or only with DOP. I tried following the wiki and could not find the menu items called for with native DSD playback only DOP
  13. It happened the very first time I went from PCM flac to a DSD track but never when going from DSD to DSD track. I have not tried to repeat it for obvious reasons. I don't think It's happened every time i went from flac to DSD but over two days of playing music it happened about 4 or 5 times. Definitely not a pop though you can here the music starting and then a hiss starts almost inaudibly and swells quickly to a loud level holds for a few seconds then with the same rate lessens to nothing this all takes place over about 5-6 seconds. It's happened on both DFF stereo files and DSD ISO's over DOP.
  14. I incorporated a Vega dac into my system yesterday utilizing JRiver MC 18 to stream DSD with DOP from a Mac book Pro. When switching from a PCM source to DSD sometimes there is a burst of white noise that is surging over the music for about 5 seconds or so. Not sure if its the software or the dac yet but it may have damaged the tweeters on my Revel F-52's whith are crackling and popping on tracks now. So use extreme caution if you are streaming DSD with DOP!
