  1. Nice article for what it covers but missing a huge topic: multi-channel audio. I use JRMC for this and have tons of 5.1 FLACs from ripped DVD-Audio and Blu-ray Audio discs, plus DSFs from ripped SACDs and some SACD ISOs. Does Roon even handle this? Can it remix on the fly for endpoints with a different number of channels than the source file? And what about all the playlist features? Can Roon create manual and tag-based playlists from its library? And you really need to go back and add info about JRemote (both as a remote and an endpoint) since you (for some reason) thought it was discontinued. Thanks, David
  2. Help! My setup worked for a couple of years but now is broken! I have BDP-80FD and MacBook Pro. I have the USB key set up and the drawer opens like it should. I can ping the player both on my network or direct Ethernet to the laptop so I know the IP address is correct. MacBook-Pro-5:~ david$ ping 192.168.7.48 PING 192.168.7.48 (192.168.7.48): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 192.168.7.48: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=14.291 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.7.48: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=11.934 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.7.48: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=3.449 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.7.48: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=3.743 ms However, when I run the ./sacd_extract -i 192.168.7.48:2002 -m command in terminal, it pauses for a bit and then I get the error Failed to connect libsacdread: Can't open 192.168.7.48:2002 for reading The only thing that I know has changed is I moved from a 2012 15" rMBP to a 2018 13" MBP but I don't see how that would affect this. I even tried a different SACD that I had ripped before on the same player. Any ideas?
  3. Yes. I bought one a few months ago and it works great for ripping SACDs using my MacBook Pro. This is what I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LIQST6W
  4. It's working now!!! I think the problem was the player was set to autoplay so it wasn't in the correct state when I ran the sacd_extract command on the Mac. This is so great. Thanks everyone!
  5. Some possible progress. 1) Other posts say the files should be in an AutoScript folder - not in the root of the USB stick. This looks correct. If I had them in the root, inserting the stick did nothing. In a folder, the tray opened. 2) I tried the files from the link in post #48: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8cunli3d3...2EwCCBhya?dl=0 3) With this, the nc command got this: MacBook-Pro-4:rip_sacd david$ nc -zv 192.168.7.48 2002 found 0 associations found 1 connections: 1: flags=82<CONNECTED,PREFERRED> outif en0 src 192.168.7.30 port 65245 dst 192.168.7.48 port 2002 rank info not available TCP aux info available Connection to 192.168.7.48 port 2002 [tcp/globe] succeeded! I just started ./sacd_extract -i 192.168.7.48:2002 -I -P after inserting a disk. How do I know if it's doing anything? The terminal isn't returning to a prompt and the player just displays "STOP".
  6. I also checked the System Information menu on the player: Software Version: BDP-80FD V01.01 And the Update menu says that it's got the latest firmware.
  7. No luck. Firewall was on but turning it off made no difference. Here's the terminal log: MacBook-Pro-4:rip_sacd david$ cd /temp/rip_sacd MacBook-Pro-4:rip_sacd david$ ls -ltotal 424-rwxrwxrwx@ 1 david wheel 215796 Aug 9 2015 sacd_extractMacBook-Pro-4:rip_sacd david$ ping 192.168.7.48PING 192.168.7.48 (192.168.7.48): 56 data bytes64 bytes from 192.168.7.48: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=2.320 ms64 bytes from 192.168.7.48: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=5.251 ms^C --- 192.168.7.48 ping statistics --- 4 packets transmitted, 4 packets received, 0.0% packet lossround-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 2.320/3.635/5.251/1.268 msMacBook-Pro-4:rip_sacd david$ ./sacd_extract -i 192.168.7.48:2002 -I -PFailed to connectlibsacdread: Can't open 192.168.7.48:2002 for readingMacBook-Pro-4:rip_sacd david$ Also, I have Fusion and Windows 7 on my Mac and just tried it all there but got the same error.
  8. No, this is correct. I have brand new eero WiFi routers and they use this subnet. This is what the player shows and, as I wrote, ping works. Also, as I wrote, it's a Pioneer, not an Oppo. The router should have nothing to do with this since they're all internal nodes. I'll try turning off the Mac's firewall when I get home later. Thanks
  9. Hi. I just found this thread and just got a Pioneer BDP-80FD from Amazon. I created the USB key with the files and when I inserted it the tray opened. Then I got iso2dsd_gui.jar and sacd_extract, put them in a folder on my MacBook Pro and ran ./sacd_extract -i 192.168.7.48:2002 -I -P And got this error: Failed to connect libsacdread: Can't open 192.168.7.48:2002 for reading I can ping the player fine. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, David
  10. Yes, I just bought an album yesterday from https://www.nativedsd.com. However, about 90% of albums on SACD are not available for download.
  11. It's certainly understandable if he can't work on this anymore but it would be polite if he took 5 minutes and wrote a post to that effect. It's been almost a year since he wrote anything. Luckily, most stuff is coming out on BluRay Audio now which is easy to rip. However, I still have a few SACDs sitting around and many more I see for sale used but have to ignore. I'd just like a quick update. David
  12. Wow - this is great! I just ran across this thread. I've been using an old Pioneer DV-45a to play SACDs and DVD-As. It's pre-HDMI and I've been using a Marantz SR5007 receiver that also has 7.1 analog input but it's dying. Almost no new receivers have 7.1 analog inputs anymore so I'd have to get a new receiver and universal player (like an Oppo). And, of course, that doesn't help get new SACDs onto my NAS for backup or playing with Media Center. So, I'm definitely in for this and just signed up. Question: Is the software that will be needed for the ripping Windows? Mac? Linux? If only Windows, would it have any problem working on a Mac under Windows-7 in Fusion? Thanks, David
  13. Thanks to some nice folks who have replied. Still need to get back to some people but a couple asked what disks I had so I put together a list. Any questions, let me know. This editor doesn't seem to like my nicely formatted ASCII table. Hope it's readable! 14. Thanks! And I just found this discussion: http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f11-software/ps3-sacd-dsd-extraction-help-so-cal-14801/
