  1. Definite upgrade. The Arcam Irdac is far superior in performance. I've bought one for a friend, and it sounds amazingly good for its money. The rdac is not to be compared with the new model in terms of performance. You would be doing your music a favor
  2. @ Audio Elf, You're right, but if it was a secret I would not of mentioned it here. Some brands want to keep a low profile before a launch but the representative of Cambridge didn't mind the advertising. @ Cebolla: I've played with both models myself and know they have great value for their money but to be honest I've decided to get a one box does it all solution. The reason I started the topic was because I wanted to see if someone could add something I didn't know and this has occured. The advice that I got was very informative but after giving it more thought I'm going to sell the dac when I'm going to buy the streamer. I'm going to test all three streamers I mentioned above, (not the naim nac n172xs but the ND5XS) before making the final hurdle and am going to swallow it now and put the pc right next to the installation. I'm upgrading my hifi right now and maybe I was a bit to eager to change it all at once (patience is not one of my virtues but luckely common sense kicks in every once in a while :-)
  3. I work in a hifistore so I know what some brands have in the pipeline. By september it should be available.
  4. The Cambridge Audio Streammagic 8 Lindemann musicbook 10 And the naim streamer which is yet available already: naim nac n172xs
  5. It's a lovely solution but after giving it some thought I'd rather go for a dedicated streamer. Less fuss, in some cases wonderful app's for control and enough choice on the market to get great sound. I work in a hifi store myself and wanted to look at all possibilities. Luckely I can test a whole bunch of devices without ever having to buy. Unfortunately two that peaked my interest are not yet available so I will have no choice then to put my pc very close to my hifi now to enjoy music.
  6. I was looking into this as well. So it's actually a pc I could build myself. (or let build) Would windows 7 not be good as alternative?
  7. Well, it looks to be an excellent device. Now I'm just wondering if it's not better then the dac I already have since it has 24/192 playback on board and might even be superior soundwise. I've been reading now for about three hours straight and the way I see it the streamer must do 24/192 to let it work with the dac. I'm just wondering if there is a device that just does streamcapabilities and sends an outgoing signal to the dac for it to process. Probably better sell the dac and get a streamer with dac onboard right?
  8. I've just read that Sonos does not support high resolution rates, back to square 1
  9. Ok, I've looked into it further and now I thought about using a sonos connect as streamer. When I connect it to the dac using coaxial will the dac be responsible for the soundquality? I've read that it would on another forum but I would like to get some reassurance before buying something like this.
  10. Hello everyone, This is my first post here and I have a small problem. As the title says I want to be able to stream audio from my external hard drive to my dac preferably with an android app.The emphasis has to be on sound quality though. Everything can be wired but I really am in doubt. I've been thinking about shuttles, streamers like Cambridge audio sonata but it only supports up to 24/96. Does someone know if there is a device that can do this, isn't expensive and allows all of the above. It would only need to have (preferably) a coaxial out (or even a USB out) so I can send it into my excellent dac. I've been doing this with my pc but I am moving out now and I want to put it in a different room away from my hifi-installation. I would be really grateful if somebody could give me a good solution.
