  1. "Greatest Hits" versions of original CD's are usually compressed compared to the first releases. I have a first Red Book release of Rumours and I have compared it to the HD Tracks "Hi Def" release. RB/HD - these are the numbers PLR: 20.8/12.4 Loudness range: 11.9/12.8 True Peak: -0.1/+1.1. I have used the TC Electronics professional Loudness meter LM2. Explanation: PLR = Peak to Loudness Ratio, a really good measure of how compressed the material is. LR is a measure of the variation in apparent loudness, True Peak is the implied peak level based on the modulation of the track. -0,1 dB is not clipping, +1.1 is severe clipping. So the HD version is compressed and clipped very severely. Subjectively HD tracks sounds unpleasantly agressive. Voices are yelling rather than singing. Sad story!
