  1. Update: I contacted Auralic support and Mr Wang responded in record time. It appears that there is a known issue with group play where the zones are connected over a wired network rather than wireless - if the ethernet speed is "very fast" this can cause stuttering. I reconfigured my Aries Mini to connect over wifi and that appears to have resolved things.
  2. I am running an Altair in my main room and an Aries Mini (with the Aries LPS) in my kitchen. While experimenting yesterday with the new group play feature in firmware 4.0, I noticed that the second zone in the group suffers terrible stuttering. I thought it might be an issue with my network, but I'm starting to think it's an issue with the Lightning software. My observations are: - the stuttering only affects the secondary zone, i.e., if I am playing a track on the Altair in my music room and I create the group while controlling the Altair, the stuttering affects the kitchen system; - the stuttering does not appear to correlate with sample rate/bit depth (i.e., it is no worse on a 24/192 FLAC than a 16/44 AIFF); - if I play the same track in the two zones when they are ungrouped, there is no stuttering in either zone. I'll file a report with Auralic this morning. Has anyone else noticed this?
  3. I also took the plunge today, with the Altair replacing a Mac Mini/Audirvana/iFI iUSB/Meridian Director combo. Initial impression is bags of detail compared to the previous setup but there seems to be something missing in the bass. Will give it a week or two to burn in.
  4. Likewise. Jesus commented on Friday in the uRendu thread that he had asked Damien for information to facilitate this and that information had not, as yet, been received.
  5. FYI it looks like MacOS Sierra has broken direct mode (again). I'm running the GM.
  6. I found an improvement with my iUSB when switching the original wall wart for the iPower. Thus, without knowing your DAC and it's power requirements, I would expect an improvement.
  7. I created a dedicated user for TM on my DS414j and set the quota at user level. All of the machines in the house which backup using TM use that user account.
  8. Peter, I have a Director in my main system and have been mooting an upgrade to either Yggy or a Vega. Might I ask what other DACs you tried and what your input source for the Yggy is?
  9. Re pre-emphasis: my recollection is that these are very early CDs, say 1986. I only have a couple of those.
  10. Thanks, both. Common sense dictated that you can't add data where data doesn't exist, but it never hurts to check!
  11. I'm in the process of re-ripping my CD collection after iTunes kindly destroyed most of it. Is there any merit at all to ripping a 16 bit CD at 24 bit? I cannot think of one but thought I should ask wiser heads than mine. Thanks, Mark
  12. Hi Damien One minor quibble with 2.3.X. I am running A+ 2.3.2 on a mid 2011 Mac Mini under El Capitain 10.11.2, directly into a Meridian Director DAC. The bit depth for the DAC is not displayed correctly - it appears to sit as 24bit even when I am playing 16bit material. The behaviour is consistent across AAC, AIFF and FLAC media. My recollection of 2.2.4 and earlier is that the bit depth displayed for the DAC switched with the media bit depth. As I said, a minor quibble as 2.3.2 sounds fantastic. Happy New Year and please keep up the great work! Best, Mark
  13. Likewise- very generous of you!
  14. Hi Tom Is the objective to leave the Mini "spun up" even when the display is off? In which case, wouldn't setting your Energy Saver computer sleep to "never" deal with matters? Best, Mark
  15. I don't have this problem - but then the recent 24/192 of "Grace" contains the only version I have of "Last Goodbye". Some playlist issue, perhaps?
