  1. There are interesting thoughts in this article. From my personal point of view, there is one goal and that is high fidelity. To hear the music as the musician or musicians intended, composed and played it. The first steps were quadrophonic and in Switzerland it was Jürg Jecklin who promoted this. Today, with digital technology, we have other possibilities at our disposal. Be it Atmos or my preferred Auro3d. My aim is to achieve the most authentic reproduction possible. I had the opportunity to listen to live broadcasts of NHK in Auro3d and I can say it was phenomenal.
  2. This is a set-up that has been in my head for a long time. I think that the yellow lines are Ravenna network. Am I correct in assuming that AD-DA conversion takes place in the Merging MK2. How does the system behave in movies with lip sync when the sound is still routed through the MAC and Convolver? My speakers have partial Hypex Fusion Plate amplifiers and if possible I would like to do as much as possible without AD-DA conversion and drive digitally to the speakers. BTW what is ALXO? Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
  3. This is a wonderful information i also wait for H1-D. Do you have more detailed information of your friends setup. It would be very appreciated. Maike
  4. Then you have never heard a recording or even a live broadcast with immersive sound with the corresponding loudspeaker setup. This is simply not achievable with stereo. Today in the professional sector there is even the possibility to transfer yourself acoustically live into a room. I had the opportunity to attend a live broadcast of WOWOW Japan in Auro-3d technology. It is quite impressive when the concert hall with live orchestra in Tokyo is audible in your home. Whether this is primarily reproduced with Atmos or Auro-3d is of secondary relevance.
  5. I don't agree with only one option for immersive sound. I personally prefer Auro much more and I am very happy that Auro did not go away. Dolby has in my view too great a market dominance and has already tried with unwelcome methods to push the competitors out of the market. I also prefer a possibility similar to your installation. That there is no streaming decoder from Dolby in lossless quality. It is important despite all the technology this is easy to use for my partner.
  6. Then we should talk about high fidelity. I am convinced that immersive reproduction is the right way. Now the question is how to get there and I am convinced that Auro-3d is one of the best ways. From the beginning, this method was intended for music reproduction and, in contrast, Atmos was developed for cinema. I am deliberately talking about music that was captured with the appropriate setup of microphones. My goal is to be able to reproduce spaces such as a concert hall, outdoor performances, etc. at home as realistically as possible. The demo transmissions of the Japanese WOWOW channel were an aha experience. As soon as I'm done with the installation at home I'll also buy a subscription to the Berlin Philharmonic again. Still to the remark about the Baach system. We rarely know the original recordings, let alone the acoustics. In studio recordings, the room sound is artificially added and may not correspond to reality. There is a recording of Joe Jackson, Body and Soul, which was appropriately recorded in the Grand Hall of the Masonic Hall. Certainly the details of the recording are not consistent, but it was a good try.
  7. I dont agree completly. I had the chance to listen in Munich to https://www.theoretica.us/bacch-dsp/ and this was amazing what is coming out of "Stereospeakers". It was funny to look at the visitors which are having a look behind the speakers to search for surround speakers. One drawback was that you have to sit in the sweetspot or behind. So if somebody dont have the space to install a 7.1.4 or more system it is imho a alternative possibility.
  8. Just on the way to munich, one hint visit Mr Schappert @ Grobi. He is a big advocate for immersive sound
  9. Just for the windows league. Auro3d plugin is now available all for MS Windows https://buy.auro-3d.com/
  10. This is the Auro upmixer with which you can make 3D sound from stereo or other formats, including Atmos. Personally, I think it's an amazing piece of software.
  11. Thank you, I did the same installation of the software but did not get the license so I did not get any further. I may have the opportunity to visit Galaxy Studio in September and meet Wilfried van Baelen in person. Let's see, if there is no solution for the decoder until then I will ask him about it.
  12. I I am sure you tell us how you did it aren`t you?
  13. This was Test Channel where you had to download a APP and it was only available on the Mac Platform. They plan to bring this available for everybody. Wowow has been a leader in developing and testing transmission techniques for years now and 8K are produced with 22.1 audio. Here are some information about this events: https://youtu.be/CPp1s_UaSlM and https://youtu.be/uBcyj1OFDI0
