  1. Thank you bibo01 for this information. This links are also on the nadac.merging.com/support - page since last WE, but up to now they d'nt work.
  2. Using a NADAC with Emotion and Windows 10 now for 6 weeks and enjoing the best sound i ever heard on digital audio, with CDs, SACDs, DVD-Audios and also BluRays (ok. BRs are to be playd with JRiver ). Here are some screenshots of Emotion: Primary Emotion settings for your webbrowser that's it. Next the settings via the browser: Now you can select your Media-files: I'm very happy that Emotion does the selection along the file-structure of the Media-PC and not only via tags as album, artist etc. The icon with the +sign (bottom right) adds the selection to a playlist, a click on the earphone icon and your browser switches to your playlist and you can start playing the tracks: Emotions shows the channel-structure of your files, a very nice feature ( ok. this early version did it not on every of my music-files....). Remote control can be done with a browser, as shown on an iPad in the next images: Emotion is not very CPU-demanding (have'nt streamlined Windows 10, here i hope on AO from audiophil): The Sound-quality of Emotion is really outstanding, on every track one can hear that the engine is based on Mergings Pyramix, excellent ! So, up to now, I use JRiver only for playing Video-Files (...and tagging): Audio via NADAC and Video via HDMI to the Video-Projector.
  3. Thank you very much for implementing this feature in networkaudiod. When it's ready for download I'll start testing with a PlaybackDesigns DAC.
  4. For PlaybackDesigns MPS-5 DAC's one have to check the "AltDSD"-Box in the HQP-Settings. Using NAA (in my setup on a Windows 8.1 Laptop) I was not able to check this 'AltDSD' button it is grayed out ! (see next pic): On the NAA-PC the networkaudiod loads the AKDesign USB ASIO, sets the two channels to USB-X (the correct USB input for the MPS-5) but it is not possible to start playing a track. So Jussi, please help, let me check the 'AltDSD' button in a NAA-Configuration...or modify the settings-xml-file.

    HQ Player

Hi Ted, in all the years from 2008 on, we used for our multichannel demos a Denon AVP A1HDA and a Denon Player with DenonLink 4, the multichannel part of our 1000+ SACD-Rips only used space on our discs. In June 2013 we implemented a solution based on your excellent thread here: http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f6-dac-digital-analog-conversion/first-multi-channel-direct-stream-digital-playback-solution-mytek-14946/ We also run a very successfully demo with this approach at HE 2014 in Munich. Thank you very much for pioneering a solution to play multichannel-files from a PC. Next month we start testing the new NADAC from Merging. But it's a long way to convince audiophiles from the benefit of Multichannel. So we are very happy that HQPlayer supports this format in such an impressive way.

    HQ Player

Three weeks ago I started to use HQ Player with the conversion of 16/44-Redbook-files to DSD128. Up to this point I was using JRiver MC19 and was satisfied with the SQ of MC. For Stereo I use the following setup: Windows_Server_2012 with AO and/or Windows 10 -> PlaybackDesigns MPS-5 -> Electrocompaniet EC 4.9 6-channel Preamp -> servocontrolled active loudspeakers Silbersand FM701. For Multichannel my setup is: Windows_Server_2012 with AO and/or Windows 10 -> USB-Hub -> 3 x Mytek Stereo 192-DSD DAC -> Electrocompaniet EC 4.9 6-channel Preamp -> servocontrolled active loudspeakers FM701, FM 303 Center, FM 401 Surround Back from Silbersand and as SUB Velodyne DD18 (also servocontrolled). The SQ from HQPlayer is very, very impressive, I never heard my normal Redbook-files in such a way comming a lot closer to "The Real Thing", the Live-Performance. I'm a Tuba-Player in our Country Music Band, I never thougt that one can hear the other players near me on a normal CD like in the live-performance ! Thank you very much, Jussi, for bringing such an excellent product to us 'Digitalos'. I began to test HQPlayer last year, but got no sound out of my PC. So I started reading this excellent forum and found this problem addressed: On HQPlayer one has to check the button 'AltDSD' to start playing on a PlaybackDesigns MPS-5 (see the following PPT-pic): After enjoying four days the HQP-SQ I bought HQPlayer. As you can see in above pic ASDM7 (my prefered filter for 16/44-files) needs ca. 20% CPU-Power. So I started to test NAA on my Windows 8.1 Laptop. But in this settings I was not able to check the 'AltDSD' button....it is grayed out ! (see next pic): On the NAA-PC the networkaudiod loads the AKDesign USB ASIO, sets the two channels to USB-X (the correct USB input for the MPS-5) but it is not possible to start playing a track. So Jussi, please help, let me check the 'AltDSD' button ! Now the Multichannel-setup with the Mytek-Stack. The settings, after a short 'learning phase', works without any problems. 5.1 in the settings, the locations of speakers in the speaker-setup-screen and allocation of the 6 channels in ASIO-channel mapping (see next pic): Upsampling multichannel DSD64-files to DSD128 demands ca. 60%(...and sometimes more) CPU-Power. But the SQ here is also much better than in JRiver, up to now I never had dropouts, excellent, but one can do it better: Use NAA for Multichannel. HQP-Settings for the Mytek-Stack are documented in the next pic: Here the networkaudiod protocol: The SQ of HQPlayer in surround is really outstanding. You can hear Symphonies from Gustav Mahler, Anton Bruckner, Pjotr Iljitsch Tchaikovsky, etc. in Stereo......it sounds like standing at the door of the Concert Hall in Mulichannel......You are in the Concert Hall, can feel the acoustic of the Hall, be a lot closer to "The Real Thing". Usage of JRiver now is reduced for: 1. Organising the Media Databases 2. Playing DVD and BluRay Videos .....and I miss JRemote
  7. Same problem with a MacbookPro under OSX ML. Started Windows 7 via bootcamp on this MacBookPro and the firmware-update was done in 2 minutes. As I see it, the FireWire-Program under OSX is not able to update the firmware ! Sigi
  8. Hi Adam, thank you very much for your support setting up three Mytek Stereo DSD DAC's for 5.1-Surround !! I send you some screenshots of the USBPAL Control Panel of our configuration via email. Hope we can start our Multichannel Demo until end of June 2013. Beste Regards Sigi
