  1. Turned out I needed to rename some files. The problem files were just the song title, all other files are artist, title so all is good. Thanks ET
  2. Thanks so much, will do. Some comps are fine others not so I'm trying to see where they differ. I did look at extended tags but again saw no difference. I'll get it though. Cheers! ET
  3. I downloaded and installed the program. I easily made basic changes but still have issues with some Various Artist compilations. I really don't understand why as viewing all the fields there seems no difference between any of the VA listing s now that I made the changes with the program. I'll keep at it and eventually work it out. It doesn't matter if I don't but I'd obviously prefer it. ET
  4. So I noticed I didn't catch that Blow by Blow listed as Jeff Beck and Wired loaded as Beck,Jeff. I also have problems with the fact that some Various Artist list different even though they were all ripped the same way. So the question is for existing files is there a way to bring them up in EAC and make edits? So far my only solution is to re-rip any title that doesn't show how I want it making edits before I re-rip. So it would be nice to somehow edit existing Tags instead of having to re-rip. I also have tried re-ripping compilations because some are fine;they list the album title and all the songs from it are there. Other comps list the album title for every song so a 10 song comp lists the album title 10 times with one song for each instance. I don't get it as even when re-ripping these haven't been listed how I want and I tried some different options. I haven't found a document that details tagging and how comps work. Thanks in advance. ET
  5. I waited a long time and now have 6 months of trouble free streaming under my belt. I'm glad I took the plunge. I guess this was a toe in the water attempt in that I limited my investment. I took two broken computers given to me and made one work. It is a P4 2.67, 2 GB of memory running XP. I use EAC for ripping to FLAC which is the source of my only minor problem (inconsistency with "Various Artists" and how they show) I put an external antenna on the network card as it is in the back of the house. I use LMS and an SBIII. I use TOSlink out to my DAC as it has always worked better than coaxial for me. (except when I used a Neko Audio DAC which uses a transformer for isolation) The DAC is a dead Trivista SACD player. Still a decent tube DAC. I just added these to the SB III: Cardas caps onto the unused RCA outs, a dummy load on the coaxial out and a 3A linear power supply I assembled which made a pretty huge improvement. I am satisfied in every way, never have drop outs or glitches and enjoy the improved ease of access and no longer needing to operate a CD transport and fool with discs, cleaning them and adding a Grungebuster mat for improved playback. I have less than $200 total invested and feel lucky for the great outcome. Next will be a large USB RAID drive setup and I still only have about 15% of my music ripped. The computer still has a few hundred gigs of space left but a real and large storage solution needs to be implemented very soon. I welcome comments on what type of large storage to get. I seem to think USB and a RAID is a good idea. Thanks in advance. ET
  6. I had poorer results via S/PDIF except when I demoed the Neko DAC which has a transformer for isolation. Every other attempt at digital worked much better for me via TOSlink to my Trivista SACD (with ground lifted) with a dead transport now used as a DAC. I have also read about length playing a role in optical. I use a Siltech cable with great results. ET
